Have you seen Tiny Tim? Timmers, aka Tiny Tim, is an approximately 5-month-old dark brindle male. He arrived at GALT via Paws of Paradise Orphanage on June 1, 2013.  His complete story can be seen on his bio page on the website.  Timmers had a previously broken left tibia  that was x-rayed by Dr. Jeff Ellis of  VCA Preston Park Animal Hospital. Timmers' injury is old, most likely occurring when he was only weeks old as it is healed completely now. His tibia had been completely broken-in-half. He was referred to Dr. Bob Radasch of the  Dallas Veterinary Surgical Center for further evaluation.    Timmers' surgery was performed on August 8.

timmers A full circular external fixator with four rings, constructed & designed by Dr. Radasch, was implanted. Timmers will be staying at DVSC for the next 4-5 days so he can be closely observed. The device will be adjusted slightly three to four times a day for these first few days and possibly weeks. Dr. Radasch is optimistic that Timmers' leg will be able to be put back in a straight position with a normal quality of life as he has good growth plates at the top and bottom of the his tibia. The staff at DVSC has fallen in love with this little guy!

Timmers' story is true to GALT's mission of "No Grey Turned Away".  The estimated cost at this time for his surgery and post surgical care is $4000-$4500.  Please help however you can by making a donation.  Truly, no amount is too small as every dollar will help!

The special medical treatment cost needed by Timmers is why the Miss Mesa Fund was established. If you would like to help with Timmers' care, please take a moment to make a donation to the fund. You can use a credit card, check or PayPal by making the donation through the GALT GreytStore. You can also write a check (Greyhound Adoption League of Texas, 3400 Carlisle St., #310, Dallas, TX 75204) and note Miss Mesa Fund/Timmers on your check. You WILL and CAN make a difference in Timmers' life and the lives of other greyhounds in need of special medical care.

CALENDAR SPONSORS!

calendars While the deadline has passed for photo submissions for the GALT 2014 calendar, we are still accepting Calendar Sponsors until September 1st. This is your chance to make your greyhound infamous! So pull out those pictures of runaway tongues, bad costumes, and yakking in the yard and send them to Melody with "Sponsor" in the subject line. Then, go buy the sponsorship online and pick out your month (the sooner you buy, the more likely to get the month you want)!

    INCOMING DOGS

Indy is a 6½-year-old fawn male born February 2007 and is the J pup. His registration ear is not legible. His coloring is striking with the fawn and a darker face and tail. Indy was found running down Highway 259 near Idabell, OK, with a nylon rope tied around his neck that he had obviously chewed in half. An animal loving woman and her son braved the traffic dodging many semi trucks to save Indy. Her son finally captured him, and they took him to their home in east Texas. He was thin and had many cuts and scrapes, especially on his pads. They nursed him until his wounds had healed, and he had gained some weight. This kind lady then contacted GALT, and he joined the GALT family on August 2, 2013.
