Greetings!
It's been said that Daniel Radcliffe is the most famous "Daniel", but we think ours is the cutest! Daniel is an approximately 2-year-old black greyhound/saluki mix. Daniel was surrendered to the Alvarado Animal Control by his owner after he was attacked by other dogs in the household. His wounds were horrific on his chest. Daniel was placed under the care of the Alvarado Animal Control's veterinarian on March 8, and he was released to one of GALT's veterinarians, Dr. Jeff Ellis of VCA Preston Park Animal Hospital on Monday, March 11. Dr. Ellis pulled his drain tubes on March 12, and Daniel was watched very carefully while his wounds closed up. He was treated for a heavy load of intestinal parasites, but his bloodwork is normal and he is negative to heartworm and tick-borne diseases. This sweet boy is all healed up now and ready to meet you!
Daniel passed an initial cat test, but later decided cats are too much fun to chase - no kitties for Daniel.
Daniel loves being outside, running and looking out for those pesky squirrels. He has an excellent appetite and loves treats, but isn't much for longer lasting chew treats. Daniel likes to sleep curled up in a small ball - so cute! He has lovely house manners.
He's sensitive to noises and sudden motions, and would probably do best in a home without very small children. But he's very affectionate and loves to cuddle up close to people. He has a beautiful sit already, and we think he would be easy to train and even do agility with.

HAPPY HOUNDS, HAPPY HOMES - LONNIE
I've been a GALT volunteer for several years and often take kennel greys to meet and greets. On one of these outings to the Petco in Allen, I met the dog that changed my world. A fellow TLC volunteer, Mike Howard, had brought a kennel grey named Lonnie. Lonnie was thin and seemed a little shy, but I was quite taken with how he wanted to be right by his handler. Mike took a step, and Lonnie took a step to stay close. I had been on the fence about joining the foster program, but quickly decided this was the dog I wanted as my first GALT foster. It took me just a few weeks of fostering to realize Lonnie was everything I ever wanted in a grey, and I had to make him officially mine. Adopting Lonnie is one of the best decisions I've ever made. He makes me laugh every day, and I love that he's my little shadow, always by my side. Each time I see that adorable face, I feel so lucky to have him. I have no doubt that Lonnie was meant to be my dog. I'm forever greytful to GALT and his kennel volunteers for taking care of this sweet baby until he found his forever home with me. |
