Greetings!

Minnie Call her Minnie, but she's not a mouse! Minnie, aka Gable Leni, is a beautiful 3½-year-old red female born July 4, 2009. Her sire is Gable Oscar, making her grand sire the late famous Gable Dodge, and her dam is Gable Sam Baby. Minnie and Sydney are siblings. Both these girls decided to bypass the racing circuit and go straight to the companion pet arena! Minnie was in a home for a year and a half, but has returned to GALT due to owner health issues and no fault of her own.

Minnie is not cat trainable, and should not live with very small dogs.

Hello! My name is Minnie and my foster parents like to call me Minnie Mouse. (I'm a petite, little girl.) In my foster home I have one human foster brother, lots of greyhound foster siblings, and 2 sheltie foster sibs. It's a full house and I get along with all of them! I love to give kisses to my foster family. They let me run in the back yard, and the best is when they let me chase the water spraying from the hose. I love to play with my stuffie toys by myself and with people too. I follow my foster dad around everywhere he goes. When he goes upstairs, I do too and I find a comfy place nearby to watch him at his desk. Sometimes I have to get closer and monitor exactly what he's doing, just in case he needs my approval. When we head back down the stairs, I like to go first, but I turn around to make sure he's following me.

When he finally settles down in a sensibly comfy chaise, I like to put my paws on his lap, lay my head on his chest, give him a few kisses, and then go take a nap. After nap time it's play time outside! We especially like to play with a jolly ball. I'm not quite sure what to do with it yet when I finally get the ball, but I'm learning how to throw it up in the air, catch it, and then run like crazy. After playtime, it's nap time again until dinner. I can't wait for a forever home of my own!

HAPPY HOUNDS, HAPPY HOMES - SKULLY

I had never seen a greyhound before - much less thought of bringing one into my family.  I had grown up with 3 rottweilers and a husky.  I knew nothing about these beautiful creatures.  So when Skully (fka Emery) was so shy and timid, I thought I had done something wrong until I did my homework.  The book I read said that when you adopt a greyhound you need to be patient and give them time to adjust.  It's like moving in with strangers basically.  But in time he opened up and I saw his amazing personality for the first time.  It took about a month or so, but he has been my shadow ever since.  He is now in training classes and will soon be getting his K9 good citizen and then move on to be a therapy dog. He is my angel, and I cherish the day our eyes met.

Of course, he is still timid around some strangers, so when we started "doggy school" that shy timid creature was back.  He was eager to learn, I could see that, but he was so nervous to have people watching him.  But we are working on that.  He now will do all his commands in a public place with just a few people watching now.  He still gets distracted when other dogs come by, but he has done so well. Even the trainer was surprised at his progress.  For such a timid boy, he learns fast.  He's incredibly smart and loves "cookies" (dog treats).  His favorite is apple/bacon flavor.  He gets so excited when he does something good; his tail starts wagging and he even wiggles his booty a little.  And when he gets really excited, he feels the need to run and pounce on his brother and run away.  He is the happiest, silliest dog I've ever known!

INCOMING DOGS

Harley, aka Zam Ammo, is an 8.5-year-old red brindle boy born July 14, 2004. Harley's sire is Fortified Power and his dam is WW Lenny Lumina. Harley was not competitive and has no recorded races. Harley is a very cute, playful, smaller boy with a  docked tail, which just adds to his expressive personality! Harley was adopted out for a year but has been returned due to his owner's health problems and no fault of his own. (This is the second time this has happened to poor Harley!) So, Harley is once again looking for his FOREVER home after he recovers from having the plate removed that was used to repair a previous leg injury. Harley is small animal and cat tolerant.

Girlie, aka Our Lil Girl, is an almost 4-year-old brindle female born June 23, 2009. Her sire is Flying Stanley and her dam is Flying Emotion. Girlie has racked up an impressive 124 races in her day, all at Gulf Greyhound Park in Texas! She started her career on January 29, 2011 and ended her career on April 21, 2013 when she suffered a plantar ligament injury. She is scheduled for surgery at the Central Texas Veterinary Specialty Hospital on Friday April 26th.

Nadine is an approximately 12-year-old black female who was found as a stray. She came to GALT from the Amarillo animal shelter. She is very weak and is being medically evaluated.
