Greetings!
Meet Harry! Harry is an 8-year old brindle male born in April 2004. He arrived from the same source as Onyx, Carbon, Charity, Clooney, Cupcake, Timex, Stetson, Stewart and Blade. Unfortunately all ten arrived testing positive to heartworm. He also had a heavy load of intestinal parasites. Harry is tattooed, however his tattoos are difficult to read and are still being researched at this time.
This big boy's long, 10-month journey back to health is finally complete!
Harry is cat trainable. He would do best in a home with no small children.
Harry's Foster Mom:
Harry is very sweet, and is slowly bonding with his human. He spooks very easily by sound or movement or being suddenly restrained - sadly, he had minimal contact with humans while growing up. He needs an understanding family with no small children to startle him.
He likes to play with other dogs, and with his people. His favorite game aside from collecting toys (his "babies"), is playing fetch with them. He likes to know where his humans are, but does not feel the need to be around them 24/7. He does have a few anxieties, and should not be crated, but he has perfect house manners. He would love a doggie door so he could go outside and enjoy a little sunshine as he pleases.
He is blossoming into a very playful boy - craving love and companionship. This boy deserves a lot of love to make up for his neglected youth!

APRIL CALENDAR PUPS
Hondo and his younger sis Julie have always loved to take their new foster siblings to the local tennis court as a way to introduce them to the neighborhood. About a year ago, Windy -- the white female with gorgeous polka-dot black ticking -- was the latest tennis player to join the team. 10-1/2 year-old Hondo, the REAL athlete (with 126 races to his credit) has always been content to just be a spectator or race judge. However, Julie (who decided to retire after four races) now thinks she is the second coming of SPEED RACER. But she met her match with Miss Windy, who left our petite fawn girl in the dust! Not quite sure how all three pups managed to pose in such a nice line -- with tongues hanging out at exactly the same angle -- right after the girls did their lap around the two tennis courts. Guess it was just the photographer's lucky day!
Unfortunately, there is a very sad post-script to this story. Our beloved Hondo crossed over the Rainbow Bridge this past Saturday, March 30th, after a very sudden and brief illness. He had a happy and wonderful life right up to the very end. On Friday, he had a nice bath followed by a brisk walk and a hearty meal later in the evening. He even snuck a few bites of shrimp from the dinner table, followed by a Greenie -- one of his favorite treats -- for dessert. For the first time in several months, he slept all the way through the night, without waking us for his usual 3:00 am potty break. By Saturday morning, however, we knew that something was not quite right. Two vets confirmed that his illness was acute and very serious. The prognosis was such that we knew we had to let him go, as painful as that was for us. Little sister Julie was right there in the room with us at the end, bidding her beloved big brother farewell -- with a promise to see him again some day at the Bridge.
Thanks so much to all of our wonderful greyhound pals for their love and support through this very difficult time. Hondo was the first GALT grey we ever met, and the first dog we had together after marrying a little later in life. We knew when we saw him at his foster mom's home that he was THE one. There will never be another like him. Run pain-free, sweet boy!
GALT would love to publish your GALT hound's story in an upcoming edition of the GALT eNews. Please submit your story and a photo (no cell phone photos please) to Rita Wulke at rwwulke@gmail.com

INCOMING DOGS
Arthur is a small, untattooed, black male with white feet, and a splash of white on his nose, tail and chest. He is estimated to be 2 years old. He was found as a stray on a ranch outside of Crosbyton, TX near Lubbock along with Penelope and Timothy. All three were thin and were extremely happy to find someone willing to shelter, water, and feed them! Thankfully, Arthur is heartworm negative and has a clean bill of health. Arthur was in an adoptive home for a couple of months, but has returned to GALT through no fault of his own. Arthur is cat tolerant.
