Greetings!

In the spirit of Easter, and in lieu of a featured dog this week, GALT would like to feature all our hounds in need of homes by asking you to consider making a donation to their Easter Baskets.
Each hound has a virtual Easter Basket on their page - a $5 donation will put an Easter egg on their page, $15 will give them a chocolate bunny. Either can be inscribed with the donor's name or an in-honor-of name.
Show your love and support of the GALT greyhounds still looking for homes! Donate here

CERTIFIED THERAPY DOG - RADAR
Radar has been a certified therapy dog for 1 1/2 years. Radar earned his 100 therapy visit certificate and has now surpassed that number by visiting assisted living centers, nursing homes, private homes and working with private reading students. Radar may have flunked out of racing school, but that just meant that he could begin his life's vocation more quickly - therapy dog. He truly loves his work. He is both gentle and enthusiastic as well as sensitive to client needs. Radar entertains his clients with a variety of "tricks" including "kissing goodbye." Radar also paints; however, rather than selling any of his items privately, his works are exclusively donated to causes which benefit animals. He continues to take classes, and just completed a "colors, shapes and sizes recognition" class. There is nothing quite like the sound of people laughing and giggling and sighing with delight while stroking Radar. Working as a therapy dog appears to bring joy to Radar, his clients and his family alike.
GALT would love to publish your GALT hound's story in an upcoming edition of the GALT eNews. Please submit your story and a photo (no cell phone photos please) to Rita Wulke at rwwulke@gmail.com

INCOMING GREYHOUNDS
Damon, aka Bob's Damon, is a 3-year-old brindle male born January 24, 2010. His sire is Bob's Skeet and his dam is Bob's Dateline. Damon has 73 races to his credit on Greyhound-data.com, all at Gulf Greyhound Park. His career started on July 24, 2011, and ended on December 27, 2012. Damon broke his leg at Gulf Greyhound Park on March 14, 2013 with a central tarsal bone fracture. Damon had surgery to repair his leg at the Dallas Veterinary Surgical Center on Wednesday, March 20. Damon is brother to Dutch.
Cash, aka Commemorative, is a 5-year-old white and fawn male born December 3, 2007. His sire is Fuzzy's Cannon, and his dam is GALT's own Sylvia, aka Sylvania. Cash is full sibling to Phantom. Cash has no racing to his credit on Greyhound-data.com, so here made his debut in the companion pet arena early! Cash is cat and small dog trainable. He was in a home for almost 2 years, but has returned to GALT due to owner illness and no fault of his own.
Minnie, aka Gable Leni, is a beautiful 3.5-year-old red female born July 4, 2009. Her sire is Gable Oscar, making her grand sire the late famous Gable Dodge, and her dam is Gable Sam Baby. Minnie and Sydney are siblings. Both these girls decided to bypass the racing circuit and go straight to the companion pet arena! Minnie is not cat trainable, and should also not live with tiny dogs. Minnie was in a home for a year and a half, but has returned to GALT due to owner illness and no fault of her own. |
