The Greyt Gala

Saturday, February 23, 2013

Thank you to everyone

...sponsors, attendees and volunteers for making the Greyt Gala a success!

View the video that was unveiled at the Gala and tells the story of why GALT's Mission of No Grey Turned Away is so important.

Greetings!

Echo

This little bundle is Echo! Echo is a 2½-year-old black female born June 26, 2010. Her sire is Dragon Fire and her dam is Flying Mona Lisa. She has no races to her credit. Echo was picked up as astray off of I35-W and joined the GALT family from the Humane Society of North Texas. She is double tattooed, but we were able to read her original tattoos. Give this little girl a call so she can Echo back!

Echo should not live with cats.

From Echo's Foster Mom:

Echo came to my foster home with a bad cold and had a lot of dirt embedded in her skin and coat. To my amazement, she was extremely calm in the bathtub while I scrubbed her skin and coat to remove the dirt and grime. It took about three weeks for her to get healthy and gain some weight. During that time she responded well to living in a home and having a routine to follow. She's even great when it comes to grooming and does not complain during her brushings, nail clippings, and ear washings. She likes to follow me around the house but is not a Velcro dog and prefers to lay on a cushion or rug while I putter around the house. Echo is very food motivated and enjoys mealtimes without counter surfing or being food aggressive toward my other three dogs. However, she is very skilled at picking up stray bits of kibble or other food items that fall to the floor. What makes her happy are lots of hugs and kisses and a nice walk in the evening. It's an especially good walk if she sees a rabbit - which is about the only thing that appears to get her really excited. Overall, Echo a very easy greyhound to foster and I know she'll make a very loving pet in a forever home.

Come meet Echo soon!

HAPPY HOUNDS, HAPPY HOMES - MARILYN

MarilynMarilyn came to us a few days prior to Christmas, 2009.  She had been a stray in Amarillo, and to say she had trust issues would be an understatement. Her first few weeks with us she literally lived under Pat's desk in our office, joining us in the bedroom only after she thought we were asleep, and scurrying back to her safe place at the first sign of our stirring in the morning.  Meals were wolfed down and only when we were in another room. That was then, but you should see her now.  I seldom  change rooms without her following close behind, and if she hears my car keys rattle, even if she seems sound asleep in some far corner of the house, she beats me to the kitchen door.  Even strangers are greeted with enthusiasm, and her play is frequent and animated.  For a month or more we had a few doubts whether this beautiful girl would ever emerge from her shell, but now she is both a joy and a beloved member of our family.  Thanks GALT, for making the introduction!

GALT would love to publish your GALT hound's story in an upcoming edition of the GALT eNews.  Please submit your story and a photo (no cell phone photos please) to Rita Wulke at rwwulke@gmail.com
