Greetings!
Victor
This week's featured houndie is VictorVictor, aka K Nine Victor, is a 10-year-old white and brindle male born on December 11, 2002. His sire is Fortified Power and his dam is Vote Dole. Victor was not registered and so he has no races to his credit on Greyhound-data.com. He arrived with a central tarsal bone fracture of his left leg which was evaluated by Dr. Bob Radasch of the Dallas Veterinary Surgical Center.

Dr. Radasch determined that Victor's fracture was chronic. X-rays and palpation of the ankle indicated that performing arthrodesis surgery was not warranted at that time. Victor was put in a splint for 10 weeks, and he has now been released by Dr. Radasch! Victor is being treated for corns, and is responding well.  Victor is not cat tolerant.

From Victor's Foster Parents:

How many greyhounds (or any dog for that matter) do you know that smile? Well, Mr. Victor does! When we walk up to him and baby talk a little he scrunches up his nose. It's the cutest thing you've ever seen!

There is not a mean bone in this dog's body. He doesn't care much about having other dogs around, but he's also fine if they're around. He's very laid-back, but he does have his moments where he'll play with us. We only crated him for a couple of weeks--Victor's not one for potty accidents.

While Victor may be a little older, you will receive unconditional love in spades when you bring him home. All this sweet boy needs is a comfy place to lounge-- there's nothing high maintenance about him at all.

Who wouldn't want to give this fantastic boy a forever home?

Seniors still have lots of love to give! Come meet Victor soon.

UPDATE ON CJ

CJ passed her initial cat test with flying colors and is now in a home where she can undergo extended cat testing. She is now parasite free and further medical testing will be undertaken soon at the direction of Dr. Julie Ducote. Results so far show that she suffers no neurological damage or conditions. CJ is very smart and is a quick learner. We look forward to hearing about her adventures in her new foster home!

INCOMING GREYHOUNDS

HiTopSkater, and Sneaker are 5-month-old black males believed to be born around August 2012. A shelter in Oklahoma got a call that there were three puppies tied together with shoestring and tied to a pole outside of a motel in Muskogee. The shelter picked them up, and the "Shoestring Boys" joined the GALT family with help from volunteers in Oklahoma. HiTopSkater, and Sneaker are most likely littermates, and what cuties they are!

GQ, aka Gable GQ, is a handsome, 6½-year-old black male born May 7, 2006. His sire is the late famous Gable Dodge, and his dam is the Irish-bred Noel's Beauty. GQ's racing career was a short one - 9 races starting August 1, 2009, at Gulf Greyhound Park in La Marque, Texas, and ending there December 10, 2009. GQ was in a home for two years, but has since returned to GALT to resume his forever home search. GQ would be happiest in a home with an experienced dog owner with no small children.

Walker is a dark brindle male between two and four years old who was found as a stray near Amarillo.

Elmer, aka Gable Elmer, is a 2 1/2-year-old brindle male born July 29, 2010. His sire is Gable Sour Cream and his dam is Tip Renee. Elmer has 68 races to his credit on Greyhound-data.com all at Gulf Greyhound Park. He first race was on December 14, 2011 and his last recorded race was on November 30, 2012.  Elmer retired because of a plantar ligament tear. He will recuperate in an Austin foster home after his leg is surgically repaired this week.

Ben is a white and brindle male who was found as a stray in Fort Worth in an area known for dog dumping. He came to GALT via Fort Worth Animal Care and Control. He has a large bite wound on his neck, and several smaller wounds on his rear haunch. He is currently being cared for at VCA Preston Park Animal Hospital.
