Urge the President to Protect SNAP

Yesterday, the U.S. Senate passed a farm bill with deep cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, formerly called food stamps). The bill will eliminate $8.6 billion over 10 years from the program, putting 140,000 Oregonians at risk for hunger. The next stop is the President's desk, perhaps as early as Friday.

ACTION NEEDED:  Contact the President and ask him to veto the bill. Email his office or call 202.456.1414

MESSAGES:
  • Veto the farm bill
  • Nearly one in five Oregonians rely on SNAP to put food on the table, including thousands of children, seniors and people with disabilities
  • Cuts to SNAP mean more than 140,000 Oregonians will have less food money, increasing hunger in our state

Thank you for speaking out. Your voice helps bring all of us closer to a hunger-free Oregon where everyone can thrive.
