 Call now to protect SNAP!

Yesterday, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a farm bill with deep cuts to the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP, formerly called food stamps). The bill will eliminate $8.6 billion over 10 years from program.  Find out how your Representative voted.

Next, the U.S. Senate will vote on the bill. This action is expected to take place on Monday or Tuesday.

ACTION NEEDED: Call Senator Ron Wyden  and Senator Jeff Merkley.

Message to Senators:

  • Vote NO on the farm bill
  • More than 800,000 Oregonians rely on SNAP to put food on the table, including thousands of children, seniors and people with disabilities.
  • Cuts to SNAP means more than 140,000 Oregonians will have less money for food, increasing hunger in our state.

Questions? Email Robyn Johnson.

ADDITIONAL ACTION: The Oregonian covered how the cuts to SNAP will impact Oregon and Robyn Johnson, our public policy manager, commented for the story.
