| Help feed kids this summer |
Summer is one of the hardest times for kids who rely on free and reduced meals at school. PHFO's summer mini-grants helped to feed over 375,000 hungry kids last summer, by supporting local summer meal sites. Generous donors made this possible.
Can you help?
A donation to PHFO's summer food mini-grants campaign will help us expand last year's success, when for the first time, every county in Oregon had a summer meal site available!
Are you a summer meal provider?
A limited number of one-time grants between $1,000 and $5,000 are available. Applications are due by 5 p.m. on Friday, April 26.

New film: American Winter
|
"Now, finally, a movie has arrived that shows the precariousness of the U.S. economy for the majority of Americans, refusing to distinguish between a deserving and non-deserving poor: American Winter."
- Greg Kaufmann on Bill Moyers site
This award-winning documentary features the stories of eight families in the Portland area who were hit hard by the recession.
"American Winter" documents the work of 211info a nonprofit referral organization, one of our partners, as they help these families find housing, pay bills, and get advice on how to weather the current financial downturn. Watch on HBO
After you watch the film...
The recession was very hard on Oregonians and we know there's a long way to go before everyone can cover all of their basic needs. As our economy improves, how can we keep this conversation alive?

| A huge thank you to Lisa Rummler! |
Our staff would like to extend a very big thank you to Lisa Rummler who volunteered over 200 hours as PHFO's Communications Intern since January.
During her time at PHFO, Lisa helped coordinate and publish our e-newsletters and annual report, captured photos and videos of our work in the field, updated our website, and represented PHFO at events like the recent movie screening, A Place at the Table.
We are very grateful for Lisa's dedication to our work, her humor, her excellent writing skills, and especially her crazy cat stories! Lisa, we will miss you and we wish you the best!
