SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, formerly food stamps) SNAP may end up being a bargaining chip in negotiations during last-minute budget negotiations before the end of the year. In response, a national cal
l-in day has been organized to ask the public to weigh in before decisions are made. SNAP currently helps
more than 814,000 Oregonians each month put food on the table. Any cuts to SNAP to other low-income programs will only increase hunger and poverty, and shift the burden of deficit cuts onto those who can least afford it.
