A PERSONAL NOTE
Hi, In our first Meta Meet, we talked about karma and the idea of action rippling back to you, and the need to own your life circumstances, whether they're happy or challenging, as part of your chosen design to work on rebalancing various issues. This is an important concept; it goes to answer that ever-present question, "How can a good God do bad things to good people?" A profound understanding of karma means that nobody's punishing anyone - rather, you create your own circumstances by your choices, and the universe is always fair and just in creating perfect balance to those choices and allowing you to decide how and when you're going to accept the consequences. People come and go in your life. Some bring very powerful impact, some stay a lifetime, some float in and out, some are there just for a short period of time. The ones who make the great impact, be it for the good or not, can be considered your karmic ties. You either have karma to work out with them (which could be difficult) or you have blessings and joy to receive from them (which is always happy). The wheel turns, and "what goes around, comes around." It's hard to accept the notion at first that everything is chosen, that you even chose your family. But once you get down with that notion, you can start putting your troubles into a new perspective. You can start owning them. And then you can start mastering them. Many clients come with an attitude that they are victims, that someone or something else is making them suffer, and that they're helpless in the face of their fate... none of which is true. In a good reading, the empowerment comes directly from this initial understanding: you created it in the first place, and you signed up for it in this lifetime, and you can work with it. You have all the talents and logical and intuitive tools to resolve the problems and manifest your greatness. I'm enjoying offering these meetings, talks. It feels like the fulfillment of my life's work. The sharing and the accepting of the role of teacher. JUNE 2016 ASTRO TIDBITS
Fantasies crash and aspirations tumble in the world chart for most of June, especially around the 13th (Neptune stations retrograde square Saturn exact). Reality requires less idealism now. On the 1st, speeches are very influential (Mercury trine Pluto). Social activity energizes spending on the 6th (New Moon in Gemini square Jupiter exact, conjunct Venus). By the 21st, people are confused, and misinformation can prevail (Mercury square Neptune). The third week seems to be trending in a good direction for health issues (Node conjunct Jupiter) but there can be an accident or violence then (Uranus quinqunx Mars). On the 23rd there is information overload (Mercury square Jupiter). The last week is beneficial for growth and positive change (Pluto trine Jupiter). The 27th is a good day for romance and kindness (Venus trine Neptune).
During the first week of June, our nation sees the expression of much anger but it might be therapeutic (Mars squares U.S. Moon, sextiles U.S. Pluto). The 5th can bring a new approach to discussions or treaties (New Moon in Gemini conjunct U.S. Descendant). Much of the month, especially on the 13th, indicates idealistic efforts but confusion regarding alliances (Neptune trine U.S. Sun, square U.S. Ascendant). During the first half of June we get more serious and responsible (Saturn conjunct U.S. Ascendant), and we seem more aware during the second half (Jupiter sextile U.S. progressed Jupiter). Mid-month brings constructive debates (Mars trine U.S. Mercury and Node). On the 20th, matters of philosophy and law are uppermost (Full Moon at 29 Sagittarius in H1), and there will be reason to celebrate on the 21st (Venus conjunct U.S. Venus/Jupiter in H7) but we remain domestically at odds (U.S. progressed Moon square U.S. progressed Ascendant). The 29th offers happy and healing patterns (Venus conjunct U.S. Sun; Mars station direct trine U.S. Mercury, sextile U.S. Neptune). However, during the last week a disruptive event can brings leaks or bad news (Uranus square U.S. Mercury/progressed Node).
President Obama can fool himself, particularly on the 13th (Neptune station retrograde quinqunx his Sun exact). He makes an effort to be liked while under strain (his progressed Moon square his progressed Venus/Pluto). He is sensible during the second week (Saturn trine his Sun), and enjoys friends on the 20th (Full Moon opposite his Venus). On the 29th, he is making long-term plans (Mars station direct sextile his Saturn exact).
Hillary Clinton will feel liberated all month (Uranus sextile her progressed Uranus), perhaps because of beneficial financial prospects (Pluto sextile her Venus). She will celebrate a win during the first half (Jupiter sextile her progressed Midheaven/Venus), and will be inspired on the 13th (Neptune station retrograde sextile her progressed Mercury/progressed Sun). During the last third, she will reevaluate her base and be realistic (Saturn sextile her progressed Venus, sextile her Neptune). The end of the month sees her in a fight, possibly with Bill (Mars station direct conjunct her Ascendant/South Node exact).
Bernie Sanders continues to rake in the dough (Pluto conjunct his progressed Venus in Capricorn, trine his Sun). Most of the month is a wild ride (Uranus conjunct his Mars)! On the 5th, his words may not match is true self (New Moon in Gemini square his Sun). On the 13th, he can give a visionary speech (Neptune station retrograde sextile his progressed Mercury). From mid- to late-month, he can be overly generous with money or promises (Jupiter conjunct his Sun, square his Solar Arc Mercury). In the last third, he makes long-range plans about partnerships (Saturn trine his progressed Mars), and is super-busy by the 29th (Mars station direct conjunct his progressed Midheaven).
Donald Trump is under much hidden pressures, even threats, all month (Pluto square his Jupiter/Solar Arc Pluto), and is spending excessively because of high emotionality (his progressed Moon square his Jupiter). He is really needing to break free and take chances, which he can do towards the end of the month (Uranus square his Saturn, opposite his Jupiter, and trine his Solar Arc Jupiter). From the 3rd-5th, he is irritable at females (Mars opposite his Solar Arc Moon). On the 5th, a maverick talk or action is well-received (New Moon in Gemini conjunct his Uranus in H10). During the second half of the month, he gets realistic with smart plans (Saturn trine his progressed Mercury/progressed Pluto, conjunct his Solar Arc Neptune). On the 29th, he is focused on long-range plans (Mars station direct trine his Saturn exact).

Two trends I've noticed for some time on social media give cause for well-needed hope for society. One is a great and growing kindness towards the entire animal kingdom, and the second is unphotoshopped evidence of incredibly precocious children who exhibit skills far beyond their years. Let me talk about the latter first. On social media, I have seen a 19-month-old baby who could read -- not by memory, but actually see a word and read it; I've seen a 2-year-old boy play a drum set with perfect rhythm including the cymbals; I've seen a very young female Indian child dance perfectly with hand gestures and feet movements to a traditional bhangra song; I've seen a very young boy play complicated classical piano pieces, utilizing the full range of the keyboard; I've seen a 3-year-old boy at a microphone, wailing lyrics while his dad plays heavy metal on a guitar; and the list goes on. What's happening here? How can these extremely young children be so proficient with music, with reading and sometimes math skills, and occasionally also with art? To me, it doesn't make sense that the child is so talented as to pick this up from scratch in the earliest months or years of its life. The explanation that sits far better, in my opinion, is that these are older souls reincarnating to further explore their gifts, talents, and passions, and to do so with a true head start. What it tells us is that all over the world older souls are returning. This is good news because, in addition to talent, older souls always bring greater wisdom just by virtue of having learned lessons in earth school many times over. And this gives me hope for the future. The other trend on social media that was mentioned regards the new and increasing kindness towards the animal kingdom that I have witnessed -- video clips of people giving massages or gentle baths to all manner of animals, not just dogs and cats, but to otters, bats, a ring-tailed thingamabob from Africa, lion and tiger cubs, squirrels... and the list goes on. I even saw a diver pet a fish! In all cases, the animals appear to love it, and luxuriate in the sensual delight of being rubbed, petted, massaged, or bathed. There were people who even reached out to reptiles. And this doesn't even touch up the many, many instances around the globe in which people, when able, rescued creatures of the wild - in the seas where whales, turtles and even sharks were trapped in discarded plastic nettings or soda can binders, or on land where animals fell into wells, were drowning in deep water or on ice floes, got wedged between trees or fences, or were orphaned. Along with this much greater sensitivity of the human race towards fellow planet Earth inhabitants, there are also plenty of examples of animals befriending and playing with those of other species - cats with birds or rodents, dogs with elephants, and even a pseudo-sibling trio of a tiger, a bear, and a lion - all demonstrating a sea-change of harmony and peace between species. It brings to mind the Biblical phrase: "...when the lion will lie down with the lamb (Isaiah 11:6)," meaning good days to come. In all, it's very heartening and stands in great contrast to the dark news and political tensions that we are daily bombarded with. It gives a refreshing counterpoint to the anxiety and depression rampant in today's world. Again, in my opinion, both of these trends are cause for great hope and optimism. ###

Book Review: "Dune", by Frank Herbert (Analog, 1965)
Precursor to the wildly popular "Game of Thrones" (published in 1996 as "A Song of Ice and Fire" by George R.R. Martin) is the far deeper, more layered, and in my opinion much more entertaining series called "Dune" by Frank Herbert, published originally in 1965. The collection originally numbered six books, entitled "Dune", "Dune Messiah", "Children of Dune", "God Emperor of Dune", "Heretics of Dune", and "Chapterhouse Dune".
The complexities of the Dune universe and plot are mind-bogglingly vast to outline, and before doing so, I'll mention that these books were so wildly popular to a certain niche of the reading public - mainly, science fiction enthusiasts (like yours truly) - that upon Frank Herbert's death, his son Brian Herbert, in collaboration with noted sci-fi writer in his own right, Kevin J. Anderson, went on to expand the Dune oeuvre by using his father's notes that were found in a vault after his death to produce new bestselling books that described many aspects of his father's imaginative world, including prequels leading up to the time of "Dune" itself, and spin-offs going into detail about the important characters and their histories in the series.
The reason "Dune" grabs you is because it proposes a future in which, as fall-out from a terrible era in which humankind was enslaved to artificially intelligent machines of their own creation, a new structure of government and moral code has appeared, spanning vast and multiple worlds - an Imperium ruled by an Emperor - yet also postulating the creation of an advanced soul, the end-product of a conscious breeding program that is designed as a tool to serve the goals of a super-empowered sisterhood called the Bene Gesserit, who can wrest power from feudal lords and emperors... but who will eventually surpass all expectations and become an unstoppable force. Is this Messiah the good-guy? Are all the aristocratic lords the villains? Thus, we the readers wrestle with who is a hero, and what are the outcomes of our choices.
This series of novels explores the potential of the human mind and its ability to control its physical body and nature by methods that include strict almost-Eastern disciplines, logical superiority methods, and military or fighting excellence. So many threads are woven into these stories that it becomes hard to describe. Not one but two movies were attempted to present the richness of the initial series, in 1984 and 2000, at least until the goal of this new Messiah was reached. But the movies fell short of the required special effects inherent in the books' universe, and were unsuccessful in walking a line between ridiculous camp and the profundity of the reader's experience.
One of the bases of this universe is never again to allow machines to be developed that can rule humans. However, there is no injunction against humans developing their given abilities to control matter with mind power, to hone fighting skills to the nth degree, and to strategize and participate in a feudal system of government based on an Imperium with an Emperor and lords who rule over Houses. There is also an equally powerful mercantile group that handles trade between worlds. And to further the excitement, there is a rare product, called spice or m�lange, found only on one extreme desert world, that has properties that facilitate space travel, delay aging, give precognition, and offer the basis for the enablement of wealth and power. This incredible treasure is located in only one place in the galaxy, which is the planet Arrakis, otherwise known as the eponymous "Dune", an extreme and hostile environment inhabited by freed humans who resist the tyranny of the feudal lords who control the spice but do not understand its origin.
Many subplots all revolve around this core. Too many to mention here. However, in my and others' opinions, this science fiction series reaches the epitome of excellent writing, exploring consciousness, politics, ecological and economic issues, and the aspiration towards an evolved godlike human who comes along purportedly to save the day. It is intellectually deeper than any "space westerns" (what Gene Roddenberry originally described Star Trek as), and the characters are well-fleshed-out. If you like science fiction, and have not yet tasted the joys of the "Dune" series, it is highly recommended.

Teachings of The Brotherhood of Light Workers

The following segment has been received, word for word through a psychic process known as channeling. It is an invited procedure. The teachings always serve to guide us through the journey of life. Compilations of many such messages are available in book, PDF and audio formats:
Everybody has something that they yearn for; everybody comes here to express their unique pattern which holds a desire or want. This pattern also holds a challenge, for nobody walks free in Earth School. There is a price to pay to come here, to have a life, to experience the divine blessing or treasure of an earthly existence, and this payment is for want of a better term called karmic dues. It is what you owe the universe for the blessing of your existence.
How is this payment rendered? In a life, while pursuing your inherent desire, you must take on the consequences of past actions which have brought you to this degree of challenge. These actions were initiated by yourself in your past, and have consequences. Consequences can feel pleasant or unpleasant. Consequences may be regarded in good terms as luck or fortune, or even fate. In bad terms, consequences bring the experience of suffering.
The key to this dilemma of a chance to reach a desire while paying your dues is called life. Life does not bargain with you; it brings full force your consequences. But built into the game of life is the stunning, even miraculous, nugget of wisdom that allows you to remove yourself from pain after you dwell in it and make the necessary payment. Not only can you learn to do this, but with it you learn to open your heart and love more. This is growth.
Are there people who resist this pattern, this game? Of course. An entire lifetime may be lived without addressing consequences, or without reducing suffering from them. Furthermore, an entire lifetime can compound karmic dues. While resisting change, greater suffering is assured in future life experience by the lack of wisdom, also called no understanding or ignorance.
It is our task, our duty, and our joy to offer words that build understanding, that accelerate wisdom, that push you into awareness so that your suffering period is shortened, your karma is rebalanced, and your actions become aligned with loving kindness rather than self-sabotaging hurtfulness. It gives us joy to communicate in this fashion. Hopefully, it will bring you greater joy as well.
