August was quite an exciting month. Besides a wonderful discourse at a Buddhist meeting here in Dover, and an extra special Tarot MeetUp in which we did adult coloring on mandalas of our choice and then shared and read each others' mandalas, there was also an all-day psychic fair I worked at for the benefit of a feline non-for-profit that captures, neuters, and vaccinates feral cats, which was held at a beautiful retreat on the eastern shore of Chesapeake Bay, with eagles' nests and a million-dollar view, and there was also the resumption of the Fortean Society now held at the new and spacious Dover Public Library, hosted by my dear friend Sandy Martin, in which I gave a talk on spirit guides, angels and elders, if they are speaking to us and what that all means in the context of the "thinning of the veil" - that is, the increasing permeability between the realms of the living and the realms of the discarnate. This is a topic I feel is quite important to us, and I will continue to offer ideas in upcoming talks and sessions whenever possible, because we are in a tense and chaotic age and need to understand the great patterns as part of the cosmic design to accelerate the evolution of the human race.
Some of us are working at becoming the spiritual elders who will be ready to guide and teach others, and it is from this perspective that my present mission is being inspired.
Whenever times are tough, it's more important than ever that lightworkers understand the reasons behind the stress, and see or know the goal to which one must point in order to help others. And it's equally important - if you feel you are not a lightworker (or not yet one) to get guidance of the positive sort to help you keep your thoughts upbeat and to prevail during a challenging era.
I'm not saying that my life's a walk in the park - in fact, I'm facing major surgery and also dealing with some other minor health-related matters. I had to fill out a form last night in a surgery pre-op class in the hospital that asked about your level of pain and if it was affecting mood, appetite, energy, etc. Mainly, the problem is affecting my mobility... but my mood is great! It'll be pretty hard from now on for anything to damage my positive mood - not because I'm immune to tragedy or shielded from grief, but because I walk my talk, and I apply what used to be called "positive thinking" to life's slings and arrows.
I hope you do the same, but if not, I'm always on call for an update to get you back on track.

Signing off until next time.
With blessings and always, with Smiles,
Judi from Del-Aware

For the world, a nice pattern for romance begins the month (Venus conjunct Mars). However, debt and other matters block economic recovery around the 6th (Venus station direct quinqunx Pluto). From the 12th to the 24th, and especially on the 17th, though too idealistic (Jupiter opposite Neptune) there is good potential for revisiting peace treaties or diplomatic negotiations (Mercury station retrograde sextile Venus). From the 19th on, hard work regarding religious and cultural matters will be required (Saturn into Sagittarius). Some excitement is likely on the 23rd (Venus trine Uranus), but pressures peak on the 25th (Pluto station direct) and frustrations are obvious by the 26th (Mars square Saturn).

For our nation, we continue to feel huge transformation, especially on the 25th (Pluto opposite U.S. Sun), and a turbulent new beginning (Neptune square U.S. Neptune) but are under a wonderful pattern for innovation, especially in the communication field (Uranus sextile U.S. Mercury). New ideas lift transportation matters on the 3rd (progressed Moon trine Mercury), and growth is seen during the first week (Jupiter sextile U.S. Jupiter), with a benign and safe pattern during the month's first half (Saturn sextile U.S. progressed Pluto). Mid-month indicates a hopeful fresh start by the 13th (Solar Eclipse conjunct U.S. Neptune in H9), and a positive turning point for the economy by the 16th (progressed Vertex conjunct U.S. Pluto in H2), along with cautious and serious plans and talks (Mercury station retrograde conjunct U.S. Saturn in H10). By the 25th, we are in better shape for a leadership role (progressed Moon trine U.S. progressed Node in Leo), and by the 29th, drive and energy find us in a formidable position (Mars conjunct U.S. progressed Ascendant).

For President Obama, the first few days are celebratory or nice for vacationing (Jupiter conjunct his progressed Venus). He feels freer all month (Uranus sextile his Ascendant) and hopeful, though unable to express many feelings (Neptune trine his Neptune, opposite his progressed Pluto). He is now past his peak (Saturn leaving his Midheaven). On the 7th, he can engage in teamwork or conflict with a partner (Mars conjunct his Descendant). On the 13th, a fresh effort to find funding, perhaps for his presidential library, kicks off (Solar Eclipse conjunct his Mars in H8). By mid-month, a large-scale project gets underway (Jupiter conjunct his Pluto), but from the 18th through 21st, he can exhibit impatience, willfulness, or explosive anger (Mars conjunct his Uranus/Node). He matures during the last third of the month (Saturn sextile his Jupiter) but finds himself under extreme pressure from allies on the 25th (Pluto station direct quinqunx his Sun exact), and is quite irritable on the 30th (Mars square his Moon).

Ben Carson (9/8/51, Detroit MI, time unknown) finds this an enjoyable month (Jupiter conjunct his Venus/South Node) but can feel furious on the 10th-11th (Mars conjunct his Pluto). He'll be overspending on the 25th (Pluto station direct square his Jupiter exact), and can perform well in debates on the 27th (Mars conjunct his Mercury). From the end of November onwards, however, he will probably see a drop in popularity (Saturn conjunct his Venus/South Node, square his progressed Mercury/Moon).

Donald Trump vis--vis the United States shows a mixed pattern. He can energize the people but be deceptive (his Sun/Node conjunct U.S. Mars, square U.S. Neptune). He presents an ideal (his Neptune conjunct U.S. Midheaven), but can help or hinder the economy (his Venus/Saturn conjunct U.S. Mercury, opposite U.S. Pluto). Without doubt, his firebrand style stirs anger and fires up the people's feelings (his Moon opposite U.S. Mars; his Mars opposite U.S. Moon). Thus, he's no sure bet for "fixing" America!

With headlines assaulting us with stories of maniacs shooting theatergoers, Iranian mullahs calling for "Death to America", natural disasters in many parts of the globe, and a general coarsening of the way people treat each other, it might seem as though the world were falling apart. In many ways there is no doubt that chaos rules the day, and we are indeed "living in interesting times". People's stress levels are elevated, and some may even feel that matters are hopeless.

Without doubt, we are living through the fallout of one of the most difficult astrological patterns that is possible, usually causing crisis and revolution. Being alive at the moment on planet Earth definitely doesn't feel like a walk in the park! And our media - movies, television, books, music, and certain pieces of art - also reflects this angst. Dystopia is a common premise, as are horror, murder, vampirism, and zombie themes.

However, at the very same time there is a very different energy infiltrating our minds and our cultures. This is the spiritual and creative pattern of Neptune in its own sign of Pisces that is helping many to pierce the veil of the unknown, to probe the mysteries of life-after-death, to awaken our intuition and natural psychic abilities, and to fulfill the deep yearning for higher ideals and spiritual stirring that is permeating our lives, even as we focus on the dark stuff.

This secondary pattern by its nature is less visible; it is less tangible to our five senses. And as we dwell in fascination on such pop cultural phenomena, such as the Kardashians and Caitlin Jenner, or anxiously deal with a weakened nation and various looming dire threats, we may not be cognizant of its subtle works.

How does this new and powerful energy actually manifest itself?

Paranormal abilities are a large part of its appearance. For example, a Facebook post trumpets "Amid epic drought, California farmers turn to water witches", detailing the resurrection of the ancient art of dowsing that can't be explained well by scientists but that has a long and revered tradition of efficacy. Compassion for all life is another, seen for instance in the great upswell of outrage against the canned hunting of Cecil and other big cats or endangered species, wherein a grassroots movement of compassion for all living creatures is forcing changes in airline policy and even national legislation. We see kindness towards one another in the wake of natural disasters, and we see this in stark juxtaposition to the device of hate that is fostered by politics or war.

Yes, this dichotomy between good and evil is always there, and always will be. But we are now in an age of dramatic and accelerating contrast. It is as though the forces of light are squaring off against powerful forces of darkness. Now would be a good time to remember that light always wins out, and that the entire thrust of the cosmic plan is towards the spiritualizing of the Earth and all of its offspring as well as the full awakening and self-realization of its sentient creatures (who are us).

A new days dawns - messily, but nevertheless evolving well.

Book Review: "A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life's Purpose", by Eckhart Tolle, (Dutton)

I love Eckhart Tolle! He's on a mission. He's on a mission to help us awaken, to break free of ego-identity and what he calls "the pain-body" - a collection of negative emotions and narrative that keeps us in suffering - and he is passionate, I would think, to help us reach the beautiful, kind of mystical, desirable and liberated state called Presence, or The Now.
This is his fourth book, also the second one that I have reviewed in this newsletter. This is the book that emphasizes the path from unconsciousness to the ushering in of a new type of human who is conscious and awake, and therefore the creator of a new type of society, even a new species on the planet - awakened humanity - and all about the process of getting there.
In many ways, this book is an echo of my second book, The Wisdom Keys, but Eckhart's style is different, his way of approaching each subject is sedate, psychological rather than metaphysical, and he never tackles subjects such as reincarnation or even the soul, preferring to call it The Self. And he keeps everything in the context of the here-and-now. In this regard, perhaps there is an element or dimension that is missing... but we'll come back to that.
His book flows. His ten chapters move from The Flowering of Human Consciousness, to The Current State of Humanity (which is all about ego), to deeper discussions of The Core of Ego; Role-Playing (which he subtitles The Many Faces of Ego), the Pain-Body, and then onto what cures the basic insanity under which we all exist with further chapters called Breaking Free, Finding Who You Truly Are, The Discovery of Inner Space, and Your Inner Purpose; and finally, A New Earth. These broad concepts move the reader into recognition of the cause of suffering, and with various sometimes repetitious urgings to change mindset and perspective in order to wake up and become liberated, which then brings one into The Pure State of Being.
I particularly like his turn of phrase. For example, he describes a shy person as "one whose ego is ambivalent, both wanting and fearing attention from others". He speaks of suffering having "a noble purpose - the evolution of consciousness and the burning of ego". He quotes the Bible, Jesus, and Shakespeare among others, reminding us that "there is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so", which is from the latter. He says we can learn "not to keep situations or events in our minds but to return our attention continuously to the pristine timeless present moment", and "not be caught up in mental movie-making".
He states emphatically that "there is only one perpetrator of evil on the planet: unconsciousness", and he tells us that "in the greater scheme of things, human beings are meant to evolve into conscious beings". Helpfully, he keeps explaining "emotion in itself is not unhappiness. Only emotion plus an unhappy story is unhappiness", and he exhorts us to continuously let go of our story, that is, our thoughts about what we are going through. He gives examples of Buddhist monks who greet every happenstance with the phrase "Is that so?", or wise men who respond to all manner of dire circumstances by viewing them with a "Maybe", since some seeming disasters are later protective of further blows from life.
In talking about a child's pain-body, Tolle attributes it to "the child's share of the collective pain-body of humanity", but never mentions that perhaps it's the child's own past lives and the baggage that has come with that. To help us awaken, he tells us "non-resistance is the key to the greatest power in the universe", and asks us if we can "take the thinking out of the perceiving", to look at something without the voice in our head "commenting, drawing conclusions, comparing, or trying to figure something out." He wants us to understand that "it is not our ego who is the observer, but our vast transcendent self.
It is in this sense that I feel that this book falls a little short. I think that awakening is the goal of humanity but followed by the perception of what lies beyond the veil, beyond humanity's amnesia of previous lives, through the limitations of 3-D consensus reality, and into the vast field of consciousness (also called The Akasha, or seen by physicists now as an ocean of energy) is where the greatest wisdom lies, and also where it is possible to lose all ego-identity and have more than a moment of merging with the fully awakened, fully self-realized God-Self. It is this distinction or element that I find missing in this otherwise wonderful book.
So Tolle to me as an author and a spiritual teacher is definitely a leader, a guide, and even one might say a master who speaks to today's generation as Ram Dass did to many of us in the 70s. However, Tolle is not the voice or awareness that can propel us into the sense of dwelling on the threshold, the sense of being an individuated consciousness also capable of merging with the mystical transcendence of all one's past lives, all one's wisdom, and all one's greater self.
He is great up to a certain point. But if his readers can follow and internally get what he's teaching and move far upwards on their evolutionary path because of his gentle words and powerful insights, then this book is to be greatly recommended and enjoyed.

Teachings of The Brotherhood of Light Workers
By Judi Thomases
The following segment has been received, word for word through a psychic process known as channeling.  It is an invited procedure.  The teachings always serve to guide us through the journey of life.  Compilations of many such messages are available in book, PDF and audio formats:

There is but one of us. If we think, we immediately see two. What we see is "me" and "you", or what we see is an inner self versus something else, be it object, person, or situation. In fact, it is in the very process of thinking that the oneness is shattered, for that which forms thoughts also forms two-ness (also known as duality).
Here we see a riddle, a conundrum: to exist is to have thoughts. There is no one - almost - who manages to live an entire life without forming a thought or two about one's circumstances. However, as soon as a thought is produced, the equation changes from an inner self to something that is thought about. In grammar, there is even the naming of the pronoun and the object.
How, then, can we know that we are one? How, then, can we believe in our vast singularity? How can we know the miracle of oneness hiding behind the veil of two-ness if we must produce thought? This is coming forth in our time and our age because oneness presents an obvious solution to the divisions and chaos of today's world, and so it is urgent that we figure this out.
To know one's oneness is to stop the process of thought. Is this possible? Yes, and it has been given a name. The stopping of thought is called meditation. There are other words as well for this thought-dissolving process. What's important, however, is to understand its mechanics. The production of thought is under your control. You do not have to produce a thought that gives form to your experience. When you name your experience, define what it has been, you string several of these combinations together and create a narrative or a story of your life. And on it goes...
But if you desire and intend to dissolve or even call a halt to thought-production, this is under your control. You may not know it, but it is possible to just sit and be, without creating a thought around what you are doing. You can just be the experience, breathing. Even when your five senses are assaulting you with information about the moment, you still do not need to generate a thought!
Next comes the amazement! After the mechanics of thought-dissolution and non-thought have been mastered, then comes the result. You, who are just being, begin to exist as a stretched-out moment, not as an identity or a narrative. You, who are just being, experience eternity, and you, who are not thinking, defining, or limiting, become a stretched-out consciousness, an infinite figure of awareness in an eternal moment of timelessness. Many names have been used to define this... but again, naming, narrating, or forming all bounce you back into two-ness. Better, then, to just figure out how to be oneness.
Oneness always exists behind all form, behind all identity. Oneness just is. May we (who have, by using such a pronoun, just separated ourselves from you, playing life's game, and participating in the illusion of two-ness) suggest that you just try breathing and not thinking. This is the best way for you and us to join, and for there to be no other reminder or interference with oneness in a moment.
Be here now.
