Drug Forum for 5th Grade Parents

Many parents in Pleasanton assume that their children are not at risk for drug and alcohol abuse and that they therefore shouldn't worry. In reality, there is no specific type of youth who might abuse drugs and anyone is at risk.

Please join Pleasanton Police Department Officer Dawson and Mothers With A Purpose as they discuss the truths about drugs, alcohol and middle school.

The forum will be geared towards parents

with current 5th graders.

Hart Informational Meeting
for families of 5th graders

Fifth grade is barely half over this school year, yet it's already time to plan for sending your students to middle school in the fall.

Parents of current fifth-graders are invited to an informational meeting in the Hart Middle School multipurpose room on Thursday, Jan. 24 at 6:30 p.m. to learn all about scheduling classes and what to expect for your kids during sixth grade. Counselors will be on hand to discuss how to schedule classes and what to expect for your student's entire middle school career.

An informational meeting about Hart's laptop program will also be held on Thursday, Jan. 24 at 7:45 p.m.

Scheduling sheets and Course Catalogs will be given to students in their 5th grade classes by the 23rd of January. Students and parents must complete scheduling forms and return forms to their current fifth-grade teachers no later than February 1st. Middle School Counselors will be visiting 5th grade classes in the Spring to talk about Middle School life and what to expect.

Stay in the loop at Hart by signing up for the Weekly Woof e-newsletter. Visit www.hartmiddleschool.org and look for the special box to sign up for the
e-newsletter.
Lunch Accounts

healthy food

Lydiksen would like to remind families to keep your children's lunch balance accounts positive.

Currently in PUSD there are over 1000 K-5 students with negative balances totaling over $16,000.  This amount has a significant impact on the District and Child Nutrition Services (CNS) budget.

CNS will make a change in practice beginning Monday, January 22.  Students whose lunch accounts have reached zero dollars are afforded three subsequent lunches to be charged to their accounts.  After that, students who negative account balances exceed -$10 will be given a free "mini meal" (Sunflower butter and jelly sandwich and milk)

until the negative balance is rectified.
