Drug Forum for 5th Grade Parents

Many parents in Pleasanton assume that their children are not at risk for drug and alcohol abuse and that they therefore shouldn't worry. In reality, there is no specific type of youth who might abuse drugs and anyone is at risk.

Please join Pleasanton Police Department Officer Dawson and Mothers With A Purpose as they discuss the truths about drugs, alcohol and middle school.

The forum will be geared towards parents

with current 5th graders.

Sweepstakes Winner!!
Lydiksen received great news recently that our school was selected as 8th Continent Soymilk's Looking Good Feeling Good First Prize Sweepstakes Winner as presented by The Regan Group.  We were awarded $2500 to be spent at Sports Authority.  Diana Liggett, our school secretary, was nominated for the tremendous job she does for the school, and her efforts were recognized by awarding our school this generous donation.  We look forward to purchasing materials and equipment to keep our students moving. Thanks to Mrs. Liggett for her hard work and to The Regan Group for this gift!
Hospitality Committee is looking for volunteers..

The Hospitality Committee is looking for volunteers to help show our appreciation to our wonderful teachers and staff on

Wednesday, January 23rd.

To ward off the chilly weather, we will be serving a menu with all of our favorite comfort foods and decorating the staff room

like a 50s style diner.

We also need people to help serve the food and clean-up afterwards. Please visit VolunteerSpot to sign-up http://vols.pt/xp9GJW

or contact Frances Rose (ferose@pacbell.net)

or Jennifer Gilmore (jscheygilmore@gmail.com)

for more information.

All contributions are welcome (decorations, food or time!)

Lunch Accounts

healthy food

Lydiksen would like to remind families to keep your children's lunch balance accounts positive.

Currently in PUSD there are over 1000 K-5 students with negative balances totaling over $16,000.  This amount has a significant impact on the District and Child Nutrition Services (CNS) budget.

CNS will make a change in practice beginning Monday, January 22.  Students whose lunch accounts have reached zero dollars are afforded three subsequent lunches to be charged to their accounts.  After that, students who negative account balances exceed -$10 will be given a free "mini meal" (Sunflower butter and jelly sandwich and milk)

until the negative balance is rectified.

Community Website ptownlife.org

The City of Pleasanton is pleased to announce a new community website,ptownlife.org. The ptownlife website is a direct outcome of the Pleasanton Youth Master Plan approved and adopted in August 2010 by the Pleasanton City Council and Pleasanton Unified School District. The goal of the website is to meet a vital need of providing a central source of information and resources to Pleasanton youth and families.

Sincerely,
 Lydiksen Parent Faculty Club
