Chess Board

The Lydiksen Chess Club needs enrollment! This coud be the last week! Please take a look at the benefits that were gleaned from the Berkeley Chess Club website:

"Though chess has been around for over two thousand years, new evidence suggests it is one of history's most valuable educational tools. In 1997 studies found that the hidden rewards for students of chess are surfacing on test results in reading, science, and math, along with findings that indicate growth in critical cognitive abilities such as deducing, hypothesizing, strategic thinking, logic, future thinking and judgement. Beyond academia, chess also appears to influence social behavior, including self-esteem, respect for others, patience and old-fashioned notions of good manners."

Let's keep Lydiksen School Chess Club going!

Drug Forum for 5th Grade Parents

Many parents in Pleasanton assume that their children are not at risk for drug and alcohol abuse and that they therefore shouldn't worry. In reality, there is no specific type of youth who might abuse drugs and anyone is at risk.

Please join Pleasanton Police Department Officer Dawson and Mothers With A Purpose as they discuss the truths about drugs, alcohol and middle school.

The forum will be geared towards parents

with current 5th graders.

The Hospitality Committee is looking for volunteers to help show our appreciation to our wonderful teachers and staff on

To ward off the chilly weather, we will be serving a menu with all of our favorite comfort foods and decorating the staff room

We also need people to help serve the food and clean-up afterwards. Please visit VolunteerSpot to sign-up http://vols.pt/xp9GJW

or contact Frances Rose (ferose@pacbell.net)
