PPIE Tax Benefit

Looking for a great cause to donate to before year end?

Donate to PPIE, Pleasanton's Education Foundation

www.ppie.org

What is Pleasanton Partnership's in Education Foundation (PPIE)?

  • PPIE is our non-profit education foundation supporting all Pleasanton public schools to maintain high quality education for all students.  PPIE raises funds for critical programs and services that are district-wide such as class size reduction, additional class sections, counselors, literacy coaches (previously reading speciaists) and specialists for technology and physical education, which cannot be solely funded by donating to individual school sites.

Where does your money go?

  • PPIE is suggesting a voluntary donation of $350 per elementary student and/or $200 per middle and/or high school student to restore many critical programs and services.
  • Please know a contribution - of any amount - is greatly appreciated, and monthly payments are available at:  www.ppie.org
  • Donations are 100% voluntary and tax deductible.

Elementary School Goals:

  • With 50% participation in donations, PPIE will fund 2-hours technology specialists per school site, 2-literacy coaches (previoualy reading specialists), Class Size Reduction in 1st grade to 25-1, PE Specialists, and counseling.
  • Any shortfall in raising funds to achieve each level would be divided between the elementary schools on a per pupil basis for principal discretion in these areas.

Middle School Goals:

  • Raising funds for additional class sections, counseling, technology and campus supervision.

 High School Goals:

  • Raising funds for additional class sections, counseling, technology, and campus supervision.
  • Funds raised will be divided on a per pupil basis across the (3)middle schools and (3) high schools to be used at the site via principal and school site council discretions within the above program areas only.

Thank you for to our donors that have already contributed to

this year's campaign.

Voluntary donations can be made to www.ppie.org through

STAR Testing

The state STAR testing window for grades 2-5 at Lydiksen is April 29-May 10. Please do not schedule vacations or appointments that interfere with school on these testing days. Thank you.

AM Supervision Help Needed

We need parent volunteers to assist with supervision of late start students from 8:50-9:05AM on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Please consider helping in this way one or more days each week. Contact the office staff to sign up.

Drop-Off and Pick-Up Procedures

To ensure student safety and improve traffic flow, please follow the established procedures when dropping off or picking up students in front of the school. Cars are to pull all the way forward so that multiple vehicles can be loaded or unloaded at once. Students may get in or out of cars at the curb lane only. Do not park or leave your vehicle in the curb-side lane. Staff members are there to assist traffic flow and monitor safety. Please follow their directions as they guide cars and students. Thank you for your patience, cautious driving, and adherence to these procedures.

School Site Council Nominations

Thank you to the following nominees for offering to serve on Lydiksen's School Site Council (SSC): Christine Catura, Nathan Danielson, Jean Hughes, and Bettina Smith. SSC members are elected by the parent community. Please look for a paper ballot to come home with your child. Please complete the ballot and return it to school by Friday, December 21.

Planning for Family Fun Night
It may only be December, but it's never too early to start thinking about
Family Fun Night coming in early May.

If you're going to be clearing out all the old toys to make room for the new, we are looking for small "happy meal toys" and party favors to give away as prizes. Please turn them in to the front office anytime. Just label it FFN.

Did your kids receive new toys from crazy Aunt Marge that they really don't want? Are they still brand new in the box? Consider donating them to Family Fun Night. We'll combine them with other toys and make great raffle baskets and you get a tax deduction!

Finally, are you interested in giving suggestions to make this year's

Family Fun Night even bigger and better than last year?

We'll be hosting a get together in early January to hear your ideas!

Date and time will be in next week's announcements.

Contact Wendy Keller (wendykeller4@gmail.com) or Monica Stephens (Mstephens12@gmail.com) with any questions.
