The SFNE Annual Golf Classic will be held at 

Red Tail Golf Club in Devens, MA on
 

Friday, September 18, 2015.  


 

Red Tail is one of the region's most sought after courses.  Don't miss your chance to golf at Red Tail and reconnect with your SFNE friends and colleagues in the New  England steel industry. The Scramble Format Tournament will start with a shotgun at 9 am. Motorcycle Ride  - September 11, 2015

The daylong event will begin at 8:00 am.  Riders will meet at the McDonalds located on 56 Calef Highway at the intersection of Route 125 and Route 101 in Epping, NH.  From there you will head down the back roads of New Hampshire to Willowbrook Village, an open-air museum encompassing a former 19th-century village in Newfield, Maine. Willowbrook Village and Museum is a cool place to explore and have lunch, but please note that there is a $10 charge to enter. From Willowbrook you will head out around 1:00 PM and drive the back roads of Maine to coastal Route 1A and end at Seacoast Harley about 5:00 PM. It is going to be a great day and a beautiful and fun ride.

There is no charge to join the ride, but SFNE is raising funds for the Wounded Warrior Fund.  Your donations would be appreciated. In addition, SFNE will purchase either a Wounded Warrior Flag or Travel Mug for each rider that donates $50.00.

Dinner Meeting  - October 28, 2015

The Steel Fabricators of New England (SFNE) is pleased to invite you to attend the Fall Dinner to be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2015.  The dinner will be held at the at the Plainridge Park Casino in Plainville, MA. 

The new venue will give you the chance to experience the state's first casino, try your luck at the slots and interact with your colleagues. During the networking sessions Casino staff will take groups of attendees on a quick tour and provide some instruction on the operation of the new gambling machines.

The educational component will feature a variety of business related vignettes that have been designed to provide attendees with a chance to share, plus learn about new legislative proposals and laws that can and will impact the steel fabrication industry in New England. The program will include:
  • A Business Ideas Exchange amongst the audience to discuss what business looks like for vendors and fabricators in New England in 2015;
  • A Filed Sub Bids Legislative Update presented by Delaney  & Associates, Inc., SFNE's lobbyists;
  • A Sick Leave Law Update presented by the law firm Kenney & Sams, P.C.; and
  • A Fabricator Spotlight  - During this segment Capone Iron will provide the first in a series of membership presentations that will highlight  the company profile, history and recent jobs.

AISC 2015 Ideas2 Awards

 
AISC will be accepting entries online for the 2016 IDEAS2 Awards starting this month (August) at www.aisc.org/ideas2.

Entry deadline is December 4, 2015 -- for U.S. projects completed from 2013 through 2015.
Please encourage everyone to contact their either their design professional or GC/CM to submit significant projects for consideration.  

A jury meets in January, 2016 to review and select projects in several cost categories.  Projects are announced at the NASCC in Orlando, FL on April 13, 2016.  Physical presentations are made at the completed project site with the entire building team being recognized.
