MBE Survey

  The words Give Us Your Feedback on three arrows with Opinions, Comments and Reviews for customer input

Recently CSA asked members to complete a brief two-question survey to find out what changes members wanted to make to the Connecticut MBE Set-Aside requirements.

CSA wanted the information to provide legislators with concrete examples of what needs to change and what parts of the programs can remain in place.

The Connecticut Subcontractors Association (CSA) announced the results of the recent Contractor Report Card during a dinner meeting in April.

As a service to the state's subcontractors CSA created a Contractor Report Card to analyze the business practices of general contractors.

Twenty-nine contractors were rated in the report card.  The surveys were completed anonymously.

The contractors with the three highest rated scores from the CSA Contractor Report Card were honored during a CSA Gold Circle Ceremony.

The top rated contractors for 2014 are Bartlett Brainard Eacott, Inc., Downes Construction Company LLC , and A/Z Corporation.

When announcing the results Jeff Clement CSA President from Modern Mechanical said, "CSA is pleased to provide the state's contractors with these report cards results.  We want to provide subcontractors with the tools they need to prosper economically."

He added, "This project is another indication that CSA is looking out for the state's subcontractors."

Contractors were rated on ten criteria including:

  • Management of the delivery of materials to the project;
  • General oversight and control of the project;
  • Compliance with statutory, code and inspection requirements;
  • Coordination and management of work schedules;
  • Management of the requisition and billing process;
  • Timely payments to subcontractors;
  • Knowledge and experience in performing the work;
  • Change order management;
  • Overall performance; and
  • Close-out and final payment/retainage.
