Birch Case Study House
Now Pilot Project for NEEA
   Local super-efficient home receives incentives

[bundle], a new design firm, has recently undertaken the design and construction of a new single family residence in the Birchwood Neighborhood. This house, the Birch Case Study Home, is a case study in partnership with Sustainable Connections to demonstrate a number of green building technologies and strategies and is considered to be one of the most environmentally progressive residential projects in Whatcom County.

This case study home just got smarter! The Birch Case Study Home has been accepted in a pilot program that offers funding and technical assistance including room by room occupant energy monitoring. The pilot is an initiative of the Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance (NEEA), an alliance of more than 100 Northwest utilities working to accelerate the adoption of energy-efficient products, services and practices. The study aims to identify and understand the most cost-effective ways to achieve maximum energy savings in residential new construction. Results from the program will help shape the new standard for advanced performance homes throughout Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington for years to come.

Working with [bundle], SC's Green Building and Smart Growth program will be hosting a series of workshops on specified green building technologies. These workshops will be open to the public but are geared towards designers, architects, engineers and contractors.

Moceri Construction has been building locally for nearly forty years. This family business takes pride in its customer service and focuses on using the best building practices, no matter the project. As a general contractor Moceri Construction is happy to service any customer. From custom homes and remodels to excavation and commercial construction they have the experience to tackle all jobs, big and small.

Moceri construction strives to always build with sustainability in mind by building homes that stand the test of time. They believe that the most sustainable practice they can have is to build homes and buildings that will be used for generations to come making even those slow growing resources renewable. In addition a focus on the latest trends in building allows them to build with as little impact as possible. During construction they do this by recycling building material, buying sustainably grown lumber, buying local, and using advanced framing techniques. When they leave the site the impact can stay low by installing geothermal, solar panels, wind generators, improved insulation, LED lighting, and energy smart appliances.

With years of experience and a dedicated sustainability specialist, Moceri Construction would relish the opportunity to help you with your next project no matter the size.
