Downtown Improvement Garden
Open House

April 30th 5:30-7:30pm

Downtown businesses are invited to participate in the Downtown Improvement Gardens (DIG), a project designed to improve water quality in Whatcom Creek and add green spaces to part of the downtown core. Join the City of Bellingham for the kick off event and open house to learn more.

What are Downtown Improvement Gardens and Why?
The Downtown Improvement Gardens (DIG) intends to improve Whatcom Creek water quality by installing 36 raingardens in strategic locations downtown. The raingardens will help treat and infiltrate stormwater from over 90 urban acres that currently flows untreated into Whatcom Creek. DIG also creates attractive urban green spaces downtown, can enhance pedestrian and bicycle safety, and helps protect sewer ratepayers' investments in the piped collection system.

Do you live, work, or own property downtown?
