theSCOOPe-newsletter
a savory serving to satisfy your animal appetite

This year's Maddie's Pet Adoption Days were a massive success! The fee-free adoption event was held May 30-31, and eighty-five animals found their forever homes! Six dogs, twelve puppies, eleven cats, and fifty-six kittens went home, and at the end of the weekend, there were only six adult cats still available for adoption. This wouldn't have been possible without Maddie's Fund, and the combined efforts of Valley Humane Society's staff and volunteers. This was the fifth year of Maddie's Pet Adoption Days, and #ThankstoMaddie, animals found homes, which allowed us to rescue more animals. See the photos.

Are you passionate about saving animals' lives? Create your own fundraiser to help Valley Humane Society rescue dogs and cats in our community! Create your own online campaign and share your passion with friends and family members on Facebook. Turn your summer block party into a collection drive. Collect funds at a lemonade stand or a Smooch the Pooch kissing booth. The possibilities are endless! Then make sure to stop by to see the animals you have helped to save!

Valley Humane Society extends a big thank-you to Pleasanton North Rotary for the beautiful new stepping stones at our facility. The group created, painted, and installed a bevy of paw- and bone-shaped stepping stones to brighten up our backyard and help dog-walkers maneuver safely between our building and the back parking lot.

The stones also enhance our growing art collection. In four years at our Nevada Street adoption center, we have attracted a variety of artistic offerings, from the comical sculptures of "Sylvester" and "Pennington" greeting arriving visitors to the many colorful murals adding cheer to our adoption spaces. If you're looking for "staycation" activities this summer, be sure to visit us! You might even discover a furry travel companion...
HappilyHomeHappily Home: Mojito

Falling in love is definitely one of the challenges of volunteering at Valley Humane Society. Most folks find their hearts expand enough to make room for every do and cat, and they love them all and let them go; some people enforce hard and fast "rules that allow them to share their affection without getting attached. Despite our resistance, sometimes an animal like Mojito comes along...one who knows exactly which heartstring to pull. Read more...
