FIND SUMMER FUN at CRITTER CAMP
Get your hands on a humane adventure! Starting June 18, Critter Camp offers sessions throughout the summer for children ages 8-10.
Kids learn about cats and dogs, play games, make crafts, and team up with their very own feline partner. Meet Canine Comfort therapy dogs, guest speakers, and color a t-shirt to take home. Each one week camp is $250 per child. Register today!

DOGS NEED YOUR HELP
Are you an early riser with time to spare? We are in great need of capable hands to help with morning dog care shifts from 7 - 10 am. Interested parties should attend a volunteer orientation as well as a dog path workshop. The next dog workshop is Saturday, May 19 from 10-11:30 am; the next New Volunteer Orientation is Thursday, May 24 from 10-11:30 am. Email Volunteer Manager Melissa Bonnel or call (925) 426-8656 to sign up for either.

SPACE to SAVE a LIFE
Maddie's Matchmaker Adoptathon is back, June 9-10! Tell your friends - all adoptions are fee free, thanks to Maddie's Fund®, who also gives VHS a generous grant for each animal adopted. (Standard adoption criteria apply.) Last year more than 90 dogs and cats went to their forever homes.
You can help us save more lives by becoming a foster parent. If you have space in your home and heart to foster a dog or cat until the Adoptathon, please email Volunteer Manager Melissa Bonnel or call (925) 426-8656 to find out how you can help. |

SCOUT TROOPS WORK HARD to HELP ANIMALS
Join us in giving a great, big "thank you" to the many Girl Scout troops who have been busy raising money to provide VHS cats and dogs with much-needed items, including:
- Heating pads and scales for neonatal kits to help fosters care for newborn kittens and puppies
- Cat toys, scratchers, treats and other kitty items that will become goodie bags for a new program to help adopt long-term residents
- A scale for weighing dogs, to help medical staff better monitor canine health
 | | A donation by Troop 32457 will help neonatal kittens. |

HEARTS on FIRE:
AN ADOPTION TAIL
Smokey sat in the county shelter biding his time. A playful sparkle smoldered inside him, awaiting its chance to light up some lucky person's life. Recognizing the little cat's loveable nature, VHS rescued Smokey in the hopes of helping him find his forever home.

Smokey's lonely heart blazed into life when Dr. Friedman peered into his kennel. This was his chance! Now safely in his forever home, the usually quiet feline purrs louder than a diesel engine whenever he is stroked or scratched. He's settled in quite nicely and even has a new favorite toy. "He's a keeper!" Dr. Friedman says of Smokey. Don't we know it! |
