Greetings!

Wisconsin B&Bs that get special attention in March are urban inns in cities with standout NCAA basketball teams, B&Bs where you can rest your feet after the "Big Dance," and inns with Irish connections.

Top Contenders for B&B March Madness Classes
The University of Wisconsin-Madison men's basketball team has been tearing up the court all season. The City of Madison also hosts the state high school boy's basketball championship. So it's only fitting that Madison inns near the campus, including Hotel Ruby Marie and Livingston Inn, score big points with travelers this month. Green Bay hosts the girl's high school tourney and UW-Green Bay is Division I too; the Astor House B&B is right in town. We have some Division III standouts in the state too, namely UW-Stevens Point and UW-Whitewater, with some great urban inns to match. In Stevens Point, there's Dreams of Yesteryear and A Victorian Swan on Water. In Whitewater, city inns include Hamilton House B&B and Victoria-on-Main B&B.

Ballroom dancing is not just for your first wedding dance and it's not just for seniors either. If you're a fan of jive, tango, waltz, swing or salsa, you'll be pleased to know there are USA Dance chapters in the Greater Milwaukee area as well as Madison. Here's the dance calendar for the Milwaukee chapter and the Madison chapter. Looking ahead, April 23-27 is the Wisconsin State Dancesport Championships, held at the Pfister Hotel in Milwaukee.  There are lots of B&Bs in the surrounding suburbs

Luck of the Irish Three

St. Patrick's Day is Monday, March 17, a nice kick-off to March Madness. On Sunday, March 16, a trio of inns in southern Wisconsin - Inn at Pine Terrace and Pleasant Street B&B, both in Oconomowoc and Pedal'rs Inn in Wales - will bring their guests together for Irish folk dance instruction and an evening meal with traditional Irish beer. The next morning, all three inns will serve a full Irish breakfast. Book with the individual inn. In other St. Patrick's Day news, New London becomes "New Dublin" every year, hosting the state's largest St. Patrick's Day parade on March 22 along with a week's worth of festivities. Consider B&Bs in nearby Appleton the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

Game Day Appetizer Four

The Phipps Inn in Hudson shared their recipe for "Martha's Vineyard Shrimp Dip" patterned after a delicious dip they had at a restaurant on Martha's Vineyard. "They wouldn't give us the recipe, however we figured out the basic ingredients and perfected it ourselves," said Mary Ellen Cox.
