Calling all Kids!
Essence will be offering its very first Essence Kids' class this Spring!
This first class will be offered as a "pilot class"....and will be offered at a very low, amazing rate.
Class is offered to children ages 6-10.
Thursdays 4PM-4:45PM April 11th-May 9 $50 for 5 weeks
Deerfield location
Spaces will be filling up quickly because of a limited number of spaces available.

Black Bean-Brown Rice Patties
|
Yield Makes 6
Add to Shopping List Ingredients
- 1 15-oz can black beans, rinsed and drained
- 1 3/4 cups cooked brown rice
- 2 scallions, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, chopped
- 1/2 cup chopped cilantro
- 1 jalapeno, stemmed, seeded, and chopped
- 1 Tbsp flaxmeal
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 2 Tbsp extra-virgin olive oil, plus more for drizzling
- Coarse salt
Directions -
Heat oven to 425 degrees. Pulse ingredients in a food processor until combined and season with salt.

Divide mixture into six portions and form into one-inch-thick patties. Arrange on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Drizzle with oil and bake until tops are golden and crisp, about 20 minutes.
Serving Idea:
We like to serve these patties with romaine (drizzled with olive oil and squeezed with lime), sliced avocado and red onion, and fresh cilantro leaves.

A very big congratulations to our Essence Apprentice Instructors. They are currently completing their Apprentice Workshop hours, and will soon become Associate Instructors.
The Essence Apprentice Training Program demands long hours, persistence, and commitment. We are so proud to have each of these ladies as part of the Essence Team; please help us in congratulating them on this wonderful accomplishment.

Meet at Running Away in Deerfield (corner of Deerfield & Waukegan Rd). Get there about 20 min. before run to group by ability and distance.
Finish your run at Essence Deerfield Studio. Instructors will be available to teach a FREE stretching class.
