I started doing this with my kids when they were about 6 years old. We took the wish lists and went to Target. I was worried they would want everything for themselves. I was so wrong! We talked about families in need and some, right here in our own beautiful Deerfield. They had no idea! But the thought of helping some other child just like them, only without all the 'things', became the best part of our holiday and a beautiful tradition! Giving is truly better then receiving, and the earlier we teach that to our children, the better adults they will turn out to be.
Call or stop by to get a child's wish list. Drop boxes for any and all gift donations will be available until Dec 20th. Thank You!

Tuscan Vegetable Soup
Ingredients
- 1 (15-ounce) can low-sodium canellini beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 large onion, diced (about 1 cup)
- 2 carrots, diced (about 1/2 cup)
- 2 stalks celery, diced, (about 1/2 cup)
- 1 small zucchini, diced (about 1 1/2 cups)
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh thyme leaves (or 1 teaspoon dried)
- 2 teaspoons chopped fresh sage leaves (or 1/2 teaspoon dried)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 32 ounces low-sodium chicken broth or vegetable broth
- 1 (14.5-ounce) can no salt added diced tomatoes
- 2 cups chopped baby spinach leaves
- 1/3 cup freshly grated Parmesan, optional
Directions
In a small bowl mash half of the beans with a masher or the back of a spoon, and set aside.
Heat the oil in a large soup pot over medium-high heat. Add the onion, carrots, celery, zucchini, garlic, thyme, sage, 1/2 teaspoon of salt and 1/4 teaspoon of pepper, and cook stirring occasionally until the vegetables are tender, about 5 minutes.
Add the broth and tomatoes with the juice and bring to a boil. Add the mashed and whole beans and the spinach leaves and cook until the spinach is wilted, about 3 minutes more.
Serve topped with Parmesan, if desired.

HEALTHY HABIT: GET MASSAGES
Not only does it feel great, soothes sore muscles and is blissfully relaxing, but it may also strengthen your immune system. Swedish massage seems to increase production of lymphocyte, cells that help defend against harmful substances and diseases. Weekly sessions are even more beneficial than a single massage. So go ahead and book a spa treatment or two. You deserve it for taking such good care of yourself!
Massage Therapist: Ania will be at our studio Saturdays. She has a wonderful healing touch and strong knowledge base. 15 min, 30 min, and 60 min appointments are available. Come for a class, stay for a massage!
Skin Care Specialist:
Dorota will be at our studio on Wednesdays.She will be offering a variety of facial care services, as well as waxing, and permanent/tint makeup.
