Between now and closing day on April 3, the Peak Pass and Peak Pass Plus passes are available at this year's rates. After that, expect to see the rate increase in two phases: a pre-season rate and an in-season rate.
When you eat lettuce in Crested Butte in winter, you must know in the back of your mind it's been trucked in. No longer!
Locals and local restaurants are purchasing from Tassinong Farms, a local organic, no-pesticide, hydroponic grocer set up in Crested Butte South in 2 shipping containers.
It's owned by Kate Haverkampf , who calls herself the "Head of Lettuce" at the farm! :) Hooray for Kate!
Town Council Supports No More Camping in Gothic Valley
As more and more people come up over the summer, pressure is put on Gothic Valley - as people tend to camp pretty much anywhere.
The Town Council voted unanimously to close the Valley to camping altogether, and sent a missive to the Forest Service. Concerns are that campers will increase pressure in other areas of the backcountry. Expect to see more port-a-potties.
