Message from Board Member, Krysti O'Rourke
March weather is tentative. Mother Nature's winds are tentative. One wind that stays "strong"- The Melville Chamber of Commerce.
From the minute I started developing a relationship with the Chamber, I experienced a warm and welcoming vibe of productivity. There was something special about this organization that I had never experienced before - the opportunity to do business in a professional and friendly way. Business is competitive, however, the opportunity to see things in a collaborative way is distinct to this Chamber: Opportunity to do better business, create jobs, develop networking opportunities, and learning things on a "macro and micro level" is what the Melville Chamber is all about. Most of all, they support you to do what you want to do.
From the Young Professionals, to the Morning Business Workshops, to the Women's Empowerment Network activities to the Podcasts and Evening Networking Opportunities, the Chamber gives options to be involved. Options to meet, greet, and do business.
The fusion of education and business is also apparent with the Chamber as we are working on a model for members to create and post internship and entry level job opportunities for our student and recent graduates. It is a win-win opportunity that allows companies to hire fresh talent and for the talent to EXPERIENCE and attain the skills to STAY on Long Island. As the Director of Career Services for Five Towns College, I see the need. We need to do more to promote the relationships between business and education.
I am proud to be a Board Member for the Melville Chamber. I see what they do. Working with businesses to stimulate our economy, provide opportunity, and create growth in our communities- enforcing the strategies to be successful as a business and as a community member.
The Lion is roaring, and a strong, productive wind is here - thanks to the Melville Chamber.
Take advantage of opportunities coming your way!
Best regards,
Krysti O'Rourke
