Spring 2014 Newsletter

It is not how subluxated/out you are but how long the subluxation has been
there.  The longer you are subluxated the more compensated your nervous system becomes and chiropractic corrects those subluxations, restoring the integrity of your spine and nervous system.

Welcome,

As we move through this long cold winter into the spring it is important for all of us to to embrace the new season.  Spring is a time of promise, rebirth and rejuvenation.  It is a time to clear out the cobwebs of the winter months and explore the new beginnings the season has to offer.  We at Wellesley Chiropractic are excited for the warmer weather and lighter days.

Spring is Here - The 21 Day Purification Program
white-callalilies.jpg

We are constantly exposed to numerous chemical and environmental toxins.  The toxins build up in the body and can cause a variety of symptoms and dysfunctions including:

-       Fatigue and difficulty sleeping

-       Indigestion and other gastrointestinal discomfort

-       Congestion

-       Inflammation

-       Weight gain

-       Decreased mental clarity

-       Decreased libido

-       Loss of or drier hair

-       Acne

-    Allergies

-    Etc.

Treating these symptoms individually instead of a part of the whole limits the response.  If several of the above issues ring true for you, using the seasonal transition from cold to the warmer weather of Spring to begin cleansing your body can promote the release of toxins and promote healing.

The 21 Day Purification Program is not just another diet or quick detox.  By following this program you can create a transition to a new way of eating resulting in a variety of lifestyle changes and healing capabilities.  Eating an abundance of fresh vegetables and fruits on a regular basis along with exercise support your bodies' ability to fight disease and maintain health.

If you are interested in more information or would like to begin the purification program please ask one of our doctors or staff.

Nutrition Corner

Turmeric is one of the most potent, purifying herbs in Ayurveda medicine. It cleanses the physical and subtle body as well as the blood and major organs such as the skin and liver. Turmeric is an anti-oxidant and has been known to protect the liver from toxins, pathogens and excessive cholesterol. Additionally Turmeric has been shown to improve complexion allowing the skin to radiantly glow.

Valerian has the reputation as the sleep herb.  Although its effects vary greatly from one person to the next, it does amazing things for the people it helps, improving the quality and ease of sleep.  It is also useful for those suffering from stress, pain from muscle spasms, tension and headaches.
  • Vitality is zapped with a bad night's sleep and chronic sleep issues.  According to the CDC, insufficient sleep has become a public health epidemic, with approximately 70 million adults suffering from chronic sleep and wakefulness disorders.
  • With a little effort and the help of some herbs, you can reset your body and sleep easy.
  • Try to set aside at least 7 to 9 hours for sleep each night.  Keep sleep and awake times on a routine.   Avoid caffeine and don't eat before bedtime.
Rhodiola is a stimulating adaptogen for mental and physical energy.  It helps balance stress levels and makes you feel more energized throughout the day.

Boswellia has been used in Africa and India for many years.  It has been used for well-being, skin disorders, infections, wound healing, joint problems, menstrual disorders and bruises, as well as to tone the skin and smooth wrinkles.  Today it is often used to treat inflammation.  Research has focused on its possible benefit for conditions such as arthritis, inflammatory bowel diseases and asthma.   There is evidence to support the use of boswellia for osteoarthritis and asthma.

Vitamin D In addition to being essential for maintaining bone health, evidence shows that vitamin D serves important roles in other organs and tissues, including the brain.

If you have any questions about these or any of the other supplements we carry please ask one of the doctors for more information.
Case Study

Abstract: Resolution of Chronic Constipation, Fecal Incontinence, and Abdominal Pain in an 8 Year Old Child Following Chiropractic Care.

Objective: To report on the resolution of symptoms of chronic constipation, fecal incontinence, and abdominal pain in an 8 year old male after undergoing chiropractic care.

Clinical Features: An 8 year old boy with a history of chronic constipation since birth with associated fecal incontinence and abdominal pain.

Interventions and Outcomes: Paraspinal thermography was used to assess the neurological component of the patient's vertebral subluxations and autonomic nervous system. Diversified technique, with high-velocity, low-amplitude adjustments, was administered to correct specific levels of vertebral subluxation. After 12 visits, the mother reported the patient having daily bowel movements with decreased abdominal pain. The patient was also able to voluntary control bowel movements.

Conclusions: The resolution of symptoms in a patient with chronic constipation, fecal incontinence, and abdominal pain was achieved after introducing chiropractic care to reduce vertebral subluxations.
