Integrated Water Resource Planning: Water, Forests, People & Policy
JULY 16, 2015 | 1pm ET
Speaker: Wayne Wright, Sr. Principal, Fisheries & Wetlands Scientist, GeoEngineers
We are already experiencing the migration of animals and humans with climate shifts. The severity and frequency of wildfires, droughts, floods and ocean acidification are increasing. Impacts to our economy, infrastructure and atmosphere have lead us to difficult choices regarding land use and future policy development to better manage our natural resources. This presentation includes a series of graphics, photos and statements reflective of integrated water resource management, with specific reference to forest management, in a changing climate. Q&A to follow. PDH credit available.

Media of Water

What the Earth would look like if all the ice melted As National Geographic showed us in 2013, sea levels would rise by 216 feet if all the land ice on the planet were to melt. This would dramatically reshape the continents and drown many of the world's major cities. Killing the Colorado If you've been reading the recent media coverage about the unfolding water crisis in the West, you might think the sole cause is lack of rain, or something to do with climate change. But here's something you probably haven't read: This crisis is created by man; built over the last century with bad policy, arcane laws and willful ignorance to environmental red flags. That means there are things that can be done, right now, to fix it.

Registration Open for the 2015 AWRA Washington Annual State Conference
October 22, 2015 | Seattle, WA
This year's conference will focus on the latest understanding of impacts of climate change to water resources in Washington State and potential strategies for adapting to these changes. The warm winter of 2015, perhaps a typical year in future decades, provides an interesting backdrop for discussing climate change impacts.
