In coordination with The White House Climate Data Initiative, the Federal Geographic Data Committee, and the Advisory Committee on Water Information; AWRA recently hosted the introduction of a national Open Water Data Initiative (OWDI) during its Annual Water Resources Conference and 50th Anniversary Celebration.

AWRA President Interviews Incoming Journal Editor
The most recent Windows on Water Management interview features Parker J. (Jim) Wigington, Editor-in-chief of the Journal of the American Water Resources Association (JAWRA). JAWRA is AWRA's premier peer-reviewed journal of water resources practice. Jim is taking over from Ken Lanfear who is retiring, and we wanted to talk with Jim about his aims and ideas regarding JAWRA.

How Wolves Change RiversWhen wolves were reintroduced to Yellowstone National Park in the United States after being absent nearly 70 years, the most remarkable "trophic cascade" occurred. What is a trophic cascade and how exactly do wolves change rivers? Narration from TED: "For more wonder, rewild the world" by George Monbiot. Watch the full talk here. "CHASING ICE": Largest glacier calving ever filmedOn May 28, 2008, Adam LeWinter and Director Jeff Orlowski filmed a historic breakup at the Ilulissat Glacier in Western Greenland. The calving event lasted for 75 minutes and the glacier retreated a full mile across a calving face three miles wide. The height of the ice is about 3,000 feet, 300-400 feet above water and the rest below water.
