Connections
American Water Resources Association (AWRA) Newsletter
Greetings!
How much do you know about H2O?This week, May 5-11, 2013, is National Drinking Water Week. As Drinking Water Week commences, AWRA joins water professionals across North America in highlighting the importance of getting to know your local water resources. Source water information is available from many places including the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's watershed tool and the Health Canada website. However, the best source of information is water providers. AWRA encourages customers to contact your local utilities to learn more about their water resources and the process that delivers water to homes and businesses in your community. Information about ground water quality and ways you can help protect local water sources from pollution may also be available. Until next time, Christine McCreinMembership Services Manager, AWRA

AWRA is pleased to announce that our Board of Directors has approved a Memorandum of Understanding with the Florida Earth Foundation (FEF).
In light of this new relationship and on behalf of the FEF, AWRA also wanted to make members aware of the upcoming meeting sponsored by FEF: US-Netherlands Connection Project's (USNC) Professional Team Program, in the Netherlands May 13-17. FEF would like to fill slots with AWRA members. Academics, in particular, are welcome as FEF is using this team to develop a new academic component to USNC and establishing a knowledge exchange platform in water infrastructure as it relates to sea-level rise adaptation and resilience, using a collaboration of many US university institutes and their counterparts in the Netherlands. Over 50 universities are currently working with FEF on this project.
For more information about the Florida Earth Foundation and their programs, visit their website at www.floridaearth.org.
