AWRA President Speaks at Renewable Natural Resources Foundation Congress

AWRA President Carol Collier speaks at Renewable Natural Resources Foundation (RNRF) 2012 Congress
|
Via the topic of "How the Delaware River Basin Commission has been coping in these financially challenging times," Collier touched on her organization's experiences with many of the challenges faced by her fellow speakers and attendees. Held December 13-14, 2012, speakers were invited to address questions like "What programs, services, ecological assets and environmental infrastructure are most essential?" AWRA Technical Director Richard Engberg and JAWRA Editor Kenneth Lanfear also attended the meeting.
RNRF is a consortium of organizations concerned with renewable resources. AWRA is a member organization. Richard Engberg is a member of the RNRF Executive Board, Vice Chair of RNRF and chaired most of the 2012 Congress.

AWRA Featured in U.S. Water Partnership Member Spotlight
A recent issue of the U.S. Water Partnership (USWP) Newsflash e-newsletter featured a piece on AWRA titled "AWRA Recommends National Move to IWRM." Read the piece...The next USWP Quarterly Newsletter (due out in late January) will also showcase a case study summary from AWRA's recently released IWRM report.A joint effort of both public and private sectors in the U.S., the U.S. Water Partnership is supported by government agencies, academic organizations, water coalitions, NGOs and the private sector. AWRA has been a partner for the last year.

Washington, DC--AWRA Past President Michael Campana and Technical Director Richard Engberg attended a December 4, 2012, meeting of the International Center for Integrated Water Resources Management (ICIWaRM), headquartered at the Institute of Water Resources of the Army Corps of Engineers in Alexandria, VA. The purposes of the meeting were to discuss the ICIWaRM role within the UNESCO-IHP program, to review the accomplishments of ICIWaRM since its inception in 2009, and to determine a strategy for moving ahead. AWRA is an ICIWaRM member organization.
