Welcome to the first issue of AWRA's newest resource for State Section and Student Chapter Presidents, The Catalyst!

Created to ensure that you have the most current and relevant AWRA news, this newsletter will serve as a catalyst between AWRA HQ and you, the presidents of AWRA State Section and Student Chapter affiliates. Please feel free to share this with your fellow officers.

Section and Chapter President Meetings

AWRA will host meetings for Section and Chapter presidents during the 2012 AWRA Annual Water Resources conference in Jacksonville, FL, this November. There is still time to register, if you would like to attend.

• State Section President's Meet and Greet, Sunday, Nov. 11, 4:00-5:30pm. Please RSVP to jacque@awra.org by October 31st 
• Student Chapter Meeting, Wednesday, Nov. 14, 4:00-5:15pm, conducted by Michael E. Campana, AWRA Past President, Oregon State University. If there is a topic you would like to discuss contact Campana.

In hiring a Membership Services Manager, AWRA HQ has committed to better and more timely interactions with our members, sections and chapters. We have a lot of great ideas for membership engagement and professional development, and we don't want you to miss any of them! The more we know about your section or chapter, the more resources and help we can offer.

To that end, we request that you email Christine McCrehin with your most current officer contact list, web addresses, social media pages and any events that you'd like us to help you publicize.

Do you have an upcoming conference, meeting, webinar, or event? Perhaps you just elected officers, or hosted an award ceremony for deserving water resources professionals? Do you have information that you want to reach not only your local membership, but water resource professionals throughout the nation and world?

Each month, AWRA HQ sends an e-newsletter called Connections to a list of over 11,000 members and non-members of our organization. We would like to include your section and chapter news in that newsletter.

No event or announcement is too big or small. Please contact Christine McCrehin for more information and our publication and deadline schedule.
Do you know someone in your section or chapter who does  exemplary work either in their job or section/chapter participation? Would you like to recognize them for a job well done?

AWRA's membership e-newsletter Connections would like to feature one exemplary member in our publication each month.  Members may be exemplary on an international, national, state, local or section/chapter level.  

We have a short list of five interview questions and ask that a photo accompany your submissions. Selections will be made on a first-come-first-served basis.
