Oregon National Guard seeks Ornaments
to Represent Families at White House
The White House has provided us with an exciting opportunity this year! They are inviting us to submit a holiday ornament which represents the National Guard Families within Oregon to hang on one of the trees in the White House this Holiday season. The theme for this year's National Guard ornaments are "The National Guard Family". There for we are asking our National Guard Families to help us in designing our ornament! We invite you to submit an ornament to the Service Member and Family Program office for consideration. A panel will review and select one ornament to send to the White House and the remaining ornaments will be hung on an official tree within our state. The specific tree is yet to be determined, but we will let you know where it is when it is decided so you can come visit it!

Here are the ornament parameters and submission instructions:
*If your ornament does not meet these parameters it will not be considered for our White House ornament.

(1) Ornaments should not exceed normal Christmas ornament size (no larger than 5" X 5"). It can be any shape you can imagine, but keep it within the size specs provided, and include a HOOK or LOOP for hanging. Also be mindful of the weight; don't make it so heavy that it cannot hang properly on a tree.

(2) The ornament should represent both your State (and have "Oregon or OR National Guard" on it somewhere), and your Guard Families (ARNG & ANG).

(3) Please include the name of the people and/or organization/ unit which developed the ornament either attached to the ornament on a tag or included in the packaging.

(4) Ornaments MUST BE RECEIVED BY 2 November, NO EXCEPTIONS.

(5) Send well-packaged ornament (to protect it from breakage during transport) to:

SMFS Office
ATTN: Ornament
3225 State St. Ste.243
Salem, OR 97301

(6) Following the Holiday Season, Ornaments will can be picked up from the SMFS Office January 4-7 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
