Family Satisfaction Survey!

Dear Military Family Member,

As part of the contract under which the National Guard Child and Youth Program operates, we have been asked to survey Families who have utilized Child and Youth Program resources and services from the period of 1 June 2014 to present. The purpose of this survey is to gather valuable information related to current strengths of the program as well as areas where continued development could be targeted for improvement. Ultimately, our goal is to ensure the state/territory Child and Youth Program is adequately meeting the needs of our military-connected population.

We invite you to take a few minutes (10-15) to complete the Family Member Satisfaction Survey online. You may do this by clicking on the following link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/2015CYSSFamilySurvey Information gathered from this survey is completely anonymous and will only be used to improve services provided by the Child and Youth Program at the state/territory and national levels.

If you are unable to complete the survey online, a PDF version can be found here. Please mail or email the PDF version of the survey to ATTN: Ms. Erin Berry, Eastern Region Assistant Program Manager, 434 Chase Road, Columbus, OH 43214 or erin.berry@cog-ps.com

Deadline for completion and submission of Family Member Satisfaction Surveys is 10 August 2015. Should you have any questions regarding the information contained in this email, please feel free to contact your Child and Youth Program Staff for further information.

Very respectfully,

USDA Summer Meal Programs for Military Families!

In conjunction with the USDA, we would like to make you aware of the USDA summer meal programs for military families.  Did You Know?

  • 21.7 million children and teens receive free and reduced-priced meals through the School Lunch Program, but only 3.8 million young people participate in summer meal programs.
  • USDA's 15 nutrition assistance programs-including the Summer Food Service Program and school meals-- touch the lives of 1 in 4 Americans each year.
  • Lack of nutrition for children during the summer months may set up a cycle for poor performance once school begins again, and makes children more prone to illness and other health issues.
  • The summer meal programs serve children and teens age 18 and younger. There is no individual/child enrollment, and no cost to the children/families. Children may just show up at an open meal site and receive a healthy meal.
  • The summer meal programs give communities an opportunity to play a lead role in combating hunger, and helping to promote good nutrition and physical activity.
  • Summer meal sites are located in many communities across the country at locations such as: schools, community centers, libraries, parks, playgrounds, faith based centers, housing projects, migrant centers, etc.
  • In 2014, 187 million meals were served to children and teens at over 50,000 sites across the country through the duration of the summer.  This summer, we've set a goal of serving 200 million meals and we need your help to reach children and teens.

To find a summer site in your community, please visit: http://www.fns.usda.gov/summerfoodrocks or call 1-866-3-HUNGRY or 1-877-8-HAMBRE (for Spanish speakers). Summer site information varies by state and will be available as the school year is ending and summer is about to begin in your community.

There are hundreds of sites in Oregon!
