Summer Meals Volunteers Wanted
Summer is almost here! Horizons is proud to partner with the United Way of East Central Iowa to offer free meals to children 18 and under during the summer months as an extension of the school food service program.

We need volunteers over the lunch hour to help staff the 20+ sites in the Cedar Rapids area. Volunteers can serve meals to children and/or help lead activities at the sites. Sites are open Monday through Friday, and we offer flexible schedules based on your availability. You can volunteer with a group, family member, friend, coworker, or by yourself.

Karl's Corner

April is National Volunteer Appreciation Month, and Horizons is pleased to recognize our more than 250 active volunteers who help drive our mission.

Forty volunteers come to Horizons daily (including Saturdays and Sundays) to deliver hot meals and safety checks to homebound seniors.  Other volunteers help teach financial literacy courses, assist with special events, and offer clerical support.

In a recent study through the Service Enterprise Initiative, it was determined that Horizons' volunteers provide an estimated service value of $555,976 annually!  We are very grateful for all the individuals and families who donate their time and talent to our agency.  Because of you, we can instill hope, change lives, and brighten futures.

Would you, your company, or your family like to volunteer with Horizons on a regular basis?  Email our Volunteer Coordinator or call 319-398-3943 ext. 1012 to learn more.
