PCA Names Top Two Graduates Of 2016
Written by Guidance Counselor Sally Pascutti
PCA is proud to announce Rachel Wilson as our 2016 Valedictorian and McKenzie Jackson as our 2016 Salutatorian. Both young women have blessed PCA with their academic, spiritual, and social leadership throughout their time here.
Valedictorian - Rachel Wilson
Valedictorian Rachel Wilson will attend Clemson University in the fall, majoring in Language and International Health with a Spanish focus.  Professionally she would like to be involved in Health Research and Community Studies, and she intends to use her training in some aspect of missions, possible Bible translation.  At Clemson, Rachel will receive Palmetto Fellows, Clemson Scholars, and Clemson Presidential Scholarships.
Rachel will be remembered  at PCA for her investment in her fellow students, especially younger ones. The bonds she build through play practices, small group Bible studies at Charleston Bagel, Life-on-Life Leadership Team, Choir, Spanish Club, and East Cooper Baptist ministries will have a lasting impact on this community, and for that, PCA is thankful.
Salutatorian - McKenzie Jackson
Salutatorian McKenzie Jackson will attend the Honors College at the University of South Carolina, where she will major in International Business and Finance with a minor in Spanish. There she will receive the Palmetto Fellows Scholarship as well as the Deans Scholarship and the Capstone Scholarship from USC. She imagines herself working for a large corporation, potentially in law.
McKenzie has been a confident pace-setter as an AP student, a cheerleader, and the Yearbook Editor as well as a member of Student Government Association, National Honor Society, Spanish Club, and Future Business Leaders of America. When McKenzie graduates, PCA will benefit from the culture of high expectations she helped to create.
Palmetto Christian Academy's Commencement Exercises will take place on Friday, May 27th at 6 pm in the Worship Center.

Congratulations to the Class of 2016!
Godspeed, and may the peace of Christ be with you all!
7th Graders Recognized For Impressive ACT/SAT Scores
Two of PCA's 7th Grade students were awarded for exceptional performances in the Duke University Talent Identification Program. Students qualify for recognition ceremonies based on ACT and SAT scores.
Congratulations to
Benjamin Fauteux for superior performance on the ACT, and to Olivia Seitz for superior performance on the SAT. Their scores qualified them for recognition at the South Carolina Recognition Ceremony at Furman University.
High School Retreat Returns To White Oak Conference Center
We are extremely excited to announce our 3rd Annual High School Retreat to start the 2016-2017 school year.
The trip will take place from Tuesday, August 18th through Friday, August 21st.
The seniors will leave on the 16th for a one day senior bonding and leadership trip.
The remainder of the high school will join the class of 2017 for 3 days of fun, encouragement from God's Word and class bonding. The most important thing about this retreat is the opportunity for students to be challenged to start off their year living for God.

The retreat will be held at White Oak Conference Center, an 840-acre retreat center located 37 miles north of Columbia. White Oak has amazing field space, a massive pool, a lake with an iceberg and a terrific hangout area.  Find out more about White Oak Conference Center by clicking here.

PARENTS:  The majority of the retreat cost is covered by PCA.  In order to make up the difference due to travel, we ask that parents pay $75 per high school student attending. The deadline to make your payment is July 31, 2016.

9th Graders Design Coloring Books For Kindergartners
In computer class, our 9th Graders designed and created coloring books as the final project of the year. They delivered the books, along with crayons, to Mrs. Orth's kindergarten class last Friday. It was so much fun for the computer students to give their books to a young student and then spend a few minutes visiting with them in their classroom.
"Let the wild rumpus start!"  1st Graders Get "Wild" On Stage!
There were wild creatures all around as our 1st Grade students presented a fantastic musical performance of "Where the Wild Things Are", based on the well known children's book.
Our parents thoroughly enjoyed the performance and the 1st Graders definitely got into character for the show!

PTF News: Thank You To The Bates Family...
Faithful Servants For More Than 17 Years!
Written by PTF Co-Chair Margaret O'Hanley
Sarah and Laurie Bates
"Well done, good and faithful servant!"
Matthew 25:23a

As we bid farewell to teachers, lockers, Chef Bob and our beloved uniforms for the summer, we here at PCA also want to bid a fond farewell to our beloved Laurie Bates.

Randy and Laurie Bates have been a pillar of support and leadership at PCA for over 17 years. Randy relocated to Raleigh with an employment opportunity this winter and in the coming weeks,  Laurie and their daughter Sarah will follow. Randy and Laurie's two oldest children, Will and Elizabeth, completed their entire education at PCA and their youngest daughter,Sarah, was well on her way to being a "lifer" at PCA. Mrs. Lamar is still upset that she will not get the opportunity to teach Sarah Bates!

Laurie has faithfully served both ECBC and PCA in a multitude of capacities over the years. She is a whiz with numbers and shared her talents in the financial areas of the church and school. Laurie has been an accomplished PCA board member, a cheerful Booster Club member, a dutiful room mother, an original Palmetto Players supporter, an all-around PCA cheerleader and the dedicated treasurer of PTF for longer than she can remember.
Here's what just a few members of our PCA family had to say about Laurie's contributions over the years:

"Laurie has been such a faithful servant to PCA, using her gift for number crunching and her desire to honor God with our collective resources to make PCA a better place.  A member of ECBC, Laurie has worked alongside both ECBC and PCA staff to facilitate both big and small enhancements to classrooms and our school environment.  She has always sought to do what is best for our teachers and students, and has quietly led on the core leadership team for years.  Her dedication behind the scenes is immeasurable, and I am grateful for her example! She will be greatly missed!"
PCA Board Member Laura Broach

"Laurie has blessed PCA in the last 20 years with her leadership and involvement in so many capacities. I had the pleasure of serving with her helping with the Palmetto Players drama program. Laurie gathered props, painted sets, organized meals, & planned the cast party. Her enthusiasm for and service to PCA has blessed our school tremendously."
PCA Board Member Susan Wilson

"Laurie has contributed to the development of virtually every area of PCA.  Her attitude has always been, "What can I do to make things even better?"
PCA Guidance Counselor Sally Pascutti

Randy, Laurie and Sarah Bates will be greatly missed in the halls of PCA! Best wishes to this wonderful family in Raleigh, their new school and their new life. You will always have a place at PCA to call home.
