Congratulations To PCA's Advanced Placement Scholars
Florence Sloan, AP Scholar
with Honor
We are pleased to announce that PCA's Class of 2015 features several Advanced Placement Scholars!
Just this month the AP Program bestowed AP Scholar Awards to recognize high school students who have demonstrated college-level achievement through AP courses and exams.
Congratulations to the following students:
Micah Christman (Scholar with Distinction) - Anderson University
Florence Sloan (Scholar with Honor) - Wofford College
Corey Caulder - Sewanee: University of the South
Ashton Harris - UNC-Chapel Hill
Annie Pascutti - Clemson University
Juliette Shelbourne - Liberty University

Advanced Placement (AP) courses are college courses taken in high school and taught by high school teachers.  At the end of the year, students take standardized AP exams and can earn college credit based upon their exam scores.  AP Scholars are students who have earned college credit for a minimum of 3 college courses with the designations of "with Honor" and "with Distinction" being awarded to students with even higher achievement.
PCA's Class of 2015 earned credit for 48 college classes, with students entering college having earned between 3 to 21 hours of credit.

Varsity Football Team Takes On Hilton Head Prep
Written by PCA Junior Reeves McAlhany
Our Fighting Eagles held the Hilton Head Prep Dolphins to only 24 points giving up just 10 in the first half and 14 in the second. No touchdowns were scored by the Eagles but Drew Brown finished the night with 38 yards and Kevin Iriart had 30.
Chad Shimakonis' numbers improved as well as he threw 10/13 for a total of 38 yards. Drew Brown also led the defense with 5 tackles followed by Stephen Hickman, Allan Sloan, Eric Salem and Chase Adam all with 4 tackles each.
Coach Manning said that the team effort was great and the result might have been different if not for a few breakdowns in communication.
This reporter might also add that the team struggled with third/fourth down conversions as the miscommunications came at critical points in the game.
Fumbles and third down conversions are easy to fix and there is still plenty of time to do so as there are six games remaining for the Eagles.
This Friday night is our big Homecoming game so make sure to come out and support our Eagles at 7:30 pm at Park West Field against Bible Baptist!
Middle School Football Team Beats Beaufort Academy
