Students Challenged At 2nd Annual High School Retreat
Written by PCA Faculty Member Kelly Cooper
More! That was the theme for the 2015 PCA High School Retreat. And students were certainly challenged to expect more from God and attempt more for God during this time. Speaking from Ephesians 3, Jason Suddeth began the week by challenging the seniors to have a greater and bigger view who God is and what He is capable of doing. He then gave a call similar to William Carey's great challenge to believers - expect great things for God; attempt great things for God.

Suddeth urged seniors to step up as leaders of the school and to push underclassmen to grow in their walk with Christ and in their service and faithfulness to Him. Speaking of this call, Senior Rachel Wilson says, "The retreat helped the seniors grow closer together and allowed the entire high school to start the year off with a great Christian presence."

The rest of the PCA high school arrived one day later than the senior class. Upon their arrival, the retreat began to gear up and get going with games like the Life Saver Challenge, No-Talent Karaoke, Gaga Ball, and Water Balloon Launching. Upperclassmen and underclassmen were on mixed teams and worked together to win points to find out which team would be declared the official High School Retreat Champions. Results will be revealed in chapel on Wednesday, August 26th.

Speaker Foster Christy continued to challenge the students to think through their faith and make it their own. Christy asked students to deny themselves and follow Christ without holding onto other things.

Roaming through the halls and around the retreat, positive comments were heard all around. This morning at school, students were saying that this was the best retreat yet! Senior Caroline Meyers says, "It was an amazing experience! I really loved how much we bonded!"

All in all, the retreat was a success, both from the perspective of the staff and the students. We laughed, played, sang, and prayed and heard challenging calls to live for Christ and be consumed by Him. Be praying for our high school this year, that we all will reach for more of God and strive to live for Him more.
