PCA Alumnus Wins Prestigious Award
Leadership, academic excellence, and service to the university... these are the qualities by which they measure to find the top man in each class at Furman University. And, they found exactly what they were looking for in PCA alumnus Jackson Pearce.
Jackson, PCA Class of 2014, recently received the Alfred S. Reid Award at Furman University, named in honor of the late Alfred S. Reid, a former English professor at Furman. The award is given by the Furman Chapter of Omicron Delta Kappa to the man in each class who has demonstrated the most outstanding qualities of leadership, scholarship, and service to the university.
Jackson says he is very humbled to receive this recognition.
"It is an incredible honor to be recognized and accept an award; it is even more important that I remember why I have the opportunity to accept it. Without the countless people that have poured into my life and helped me grow and shape who I am, there is no way I could even be in the place to have received this. If anything, the award was simply a great reminder that I am overwhelmingly blessed with people who care about me and want to see me succeed, and I cannot express how thankful I am for that."
We are extremely proud of Jackson as he makes his mark at Furman. Jackson is a Neuroscience major hoping to become a neonatologist.
8th Graders Travel To Our Nation's Capital

8th Grade students will experience the wonder of our nation's capital during a week long trip to Washington DC.

Students arrived yesterday and will have a full day of touring today... including a visit of prominent national monuments and the Holocaust Museum.

Our 8th Graders will also spend time in the National Archives, which is the home of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution.  This trip is a wonderful opportunity for our students to step back in time through history and to witness our national government in action.

Washington DC trip leader Richard Cox asks that we remember them in prayer during this special week.

"We value your prayers throughout the week, not only for safety but also for the hearts of each and every one of our students.  This week gives us a great - and sometimes rare - opportunity to fellowship with friends while also opening our eyes to seeing God's sovereign hand at work throughout our nation's history."

Lower School Celebrates Grandparents Day 2015
What a joy to celebrate our Lower School families on Grandparents Day 2015!  The Worship Center was filled with beautiful music and happy faces as students in Grades K-5 performed a variety of songs to welcome our grandparents and special guests.
We enjoyed recognizing our current military members and veterans of each U.S. Military Branch for their service to our country. Another highlight of the program was the 4th Grade sword dance.
Thank you to Lower School Music Teacher Pam Hall for putting together a fabulous musical program and also to Art Teacher Nicole Seitz for the spectacular Junior Palmetto Art Show.
Be sure to check out more pictures of this wonderful event in "Memorable Moments of the Week" at the bottom of this newsletter.
4th Graders Share Life Lessons From A Grandparent
4th Graders did a little something extra to celebrate their grandparents last week. As part of their Discovery Quest curriculum, each student was asked to interview a grandparent and give a presentation including interesting facts, stories, and life lessons from their special relative.
It was a beautiful way to celebrate these valuable relationships, and our 4th Graders rose to the challenge with excellent speeches and visual aids.
After the presentations, the grandparents were invited to stay for a reception where students and their families enjoyed fellowship with one another.
