PCA High School Choir Performs At "Dollywood"
PCA's talented high school choir shared their singing skills with visitors to the popular Dollywood theme park.  But that was only a small part of last week's
exciting Choir Trip.
It began in Sylva, North Carolina where our high school choir was thrilled to receive an instructional clinic with the retired director of choral activities from Western Carolina University.
Dr. Robert Holquist taught at WCU for 25 years and has been the music minister at the First Baptist Church of Sylva for 31 years. He worked with the students on their concert music, and expressed his appreciation for their sensitive phrasing and beautiful tone quality. The students also provided music for the prayer service at the church, singing songs from the sacred Latin choral tradition all the way to songs from South Africa. And, Senior William Jose did a beautiful job leading the congregation in two praise songs.
The students then traveled to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee where
they were a featured performing group at Dollywood. Their performance was warmly received by the audience.
Mrs. Lambert and all of the students want to express their thanks to Mr. Lindsey and Mr. Moser, the parents, and all who helped to make this trip a reality. Mrs. Lambert says, "I could not have asked for better leadership, responsibility, musicianship, or kindness from our PCA students. I am incredibly proud of them for the people and the musicians that they are."

Washing Their Way To Williamsburg
Our 5th Grade students aren't afraid of a little hard work!  More than a dozen 5th graders gathered in downtown Charleston on Saturday morning to wash tour buses for Gray Line Tours as a fundraiser for their upcoming 5th Grade trip to Williamsburg, Virginia.
If you want to help, there is another opportunity to wash buses this Thursday, April 16th at 4pm on Morrison Drive.
We would like to give a special thanks to former PCA parent Rick Mosteller for allowing us this chance to earn money for the trip!

Showcase Your Business In PCA's Business Directory
Written By Sarah Corley, Director of Institutional Advancement

In an effort to continue building our PCA community, we are excited to offer an opportunity for current families to advertise their business.

In the fall of 2015, we plan to print a directory of PCA businesses. These directories will be given to students upon their return in the fall and available in limited supply at the front desk kiosk.

Please note:

Submissions are $50 each and must be scanned at highest quality setting possible (300dpi) in a jpeg or pdf format, emailed to [email protected]and received by Friday, May 22, 2015.

Print will be a business card size for each ad.

The front cover will read, "PCA Family Business Directory". Perhaps in coming years we can provide groupings of "restaurants", "entertainment", and "services".

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions. I look forward to this resource as another step in supporting our school and our constituency.

High School Computer Students Connect With Preschoolers

It's one of the great advantages of PCA... younger students and older students getting the opportunity to work together.

Mrs. Cass' 9th grade computer application students recently created coloring books... the ABC's of their chosen topics... anything from animals to fruit. The high school students took the books with crayons to Patti Biggerstaff's preschool class to present them to our youngest students.  While they were visiting the preschoolers, they played the game Hosanna. Mrs. Cass said, "My 9th graders loved making a connection with the 3-year-olds."
Kindergartners Enjoy Touch Tank Learning

Our Kindergarten students were able to touch and learn with a special Marine Touch Tank Adventure brought directly into their classrooms.

The special tank was presented through the City of Charleston Environmental Education Division's In-House Program.

The students had a blast exploring some of the more common oceanic animals.

Our Kindergartners were introduced to a variety of crustaceans, mollusks, and other sea creatures. They even learned some interesting facts about the Lowcountry's fascinating salt marshes.

Alumni Share Their PCA Experience
Your child will be prepared.  Palmetto Christian Academy graduates leave with the tools to make important decisions about God's plan for their lives.  We want to share the stories of some of our alumni and celebrate how they are leaving an unique imprint on the world.
In this week's Eagle Edition, we feature Kimberly Wilson, Class of 2009.
"Sharing Our Stories" by Nikole Hamilton

Kimberly Wilson is proud to be part of the inaugural graduating class of PCA and was excited to discuss how PCA molded her into the person she is today.  After graduating from PCA in 2009, Kimberly entered Clemson University where she had been accepted provisionally during her junior year of high school. Due to her meaningful experience volunteering with classmates at Camp Brittney in Costa Rica, she decided to pursue a degree in Language & International Health, concentrating in Spanish and Community Development. As an undergraduate, Kimberly had the opportunity to travel abroad to Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, and Spain where she chased her passion of learning the Spanish language and immersed herself in the Latin American culture and lifestyle.

Upon graduating Cum Laude from Clemson in 2013, Kimberly returned to the Dominican Republic to work at a non-profit organization called Institute for Latin American Concern (ILAC).  While at the ILAC, she had the privilege of serving as a liaison between American surgical teams and the Dominican patients who were receiving free health care from the volunteers. Kimberly says, "Although I ultimately give gratitude to God for blessing me with these experiences, I am also thankful that PCA provided me with a strong academic as well as spiritual foundation.  Because of this, I was able to succeed in college while incorporating my passion for international missions."

Kimberly currently resides in Mt. Pleasant and aspires to be a Physician Assistant. When she earns her degree, she hopes to lead medical teams to Latin America every year to provide short-term medical relief to those in need.
