Varsity Girls Basketball Team Captures 2nd In State

Congratulations to our Varsity Girls Basketball team for making it to the State Championship Game!  The Lady Eagles enjoyed their best season in school history with a 19-9 record, playing in their first-ever state title game.
Palmetto Christian almost pulled off an upset against favored Hilton Head Christian.  The Lady Eagles lost 60-68 in a hard fought game.
Senior Corey Caulder had a remarkable showing with 35-points in the final game of her high school career.  Senior Annie Pascutti had her best game of the season, with 17 points and five rebounds. Both Corey and Annie were selected to the All-Tournament team for their impressive play throughout the tournament.
Head Coach Miranda Stanley says, "What a privilege it has been to coach such a special group of girls this season. I am incredibly proud of our season accomplishments and new achievements for the Varsity girls basketball program. We finished our season with a record of 19-9 and our school's first girls appearance in the state championship game where we achieved SCISA Class 2A State Runner Up. What a journey it has been this season. All the countless hours, tiring days, sweat and tears, and wins and losses brought 12 girls together with one purpose --- to honor God. All glory to Him!"

Missionaries From Around The World Visit Classrooms
Missionaries from all across the globe stopped by our lower school classrooms last Friday to share how their work is furthering God's Kingdom.
Students listened intently, learning about the real life experiences of other young boys and girls living thousands of miles away.
Lower School students
often select a country
and specifically pray for its people as well as
for our missionaries who sometimes face danger and even risk their lives for sharing the Gospel.
Here's what a few of the 1st Graders in Donna Cumbee's class had to say about the visits:
"I loved it! I learned that the children in the Horn of Africa worshiped coffee more than God."
- Saylor Sorenson
"I loved the missionary visitors. They taught me a lot of things I did not know." - Joseph Noy
"I learned that people in the Horn Of Africa had to go to the well to get water, they do not have water in their houses like we do."
- Caitlin Triplett
Thank you to all of our special missionary guests. What a wonderful way to wrap up Heart For Missions Month!
Students Give Their Time To Help Lowcountry Orphan Relief
Faith In Action

PCA middle school students volunteered at the Lowcountry Orphan Relief (LOR) on Saturday, February 22.  LOR's mission is to provide aid to abandoned, abused and neglected children in the tri-county area.  One of the ways LOR serves local children is by providing clothing and other supplies while they are living in temporary housing. PCA students were given the job of sorting clothes by size and season.  "It was an impactful experience for the students to get a first-hand look at the work this wonderful organization is doing in our community.  Students became more aware of the needs of other kids and realized that they want to do their part to help," explained Heather Olson, middle school Bible teacher.

If you would like to help PCA as we partner with LOR, please contact PCA mom Amy Jimenez at [email protected].  She will be organizing future opportunities to serve.

3rd Graders Impress With Biography Presentations

It's all about learning the art of both effective written and verbal communication. 3rd Graders impressed their parents and teachers with presentations on a biography of their choice. On completion of reading the biography they begin to gather information and important facts. Next, they write a rough draft, edit it, and complete the final draft. Finally, they prepare an oral presentation of their biography. Students are required to dress in costume as the person they selected and present their speech to a room full of parents and friends.

3rd Grade Teacher Neelam Bahadur says the biography presentation is one of the highlights of PCA third grade.

"This process enables students to develop not only the ability to communicate effectively but also learn to address an audience with confidence. Our goal for all students is to effectively impact our community for Christ. To this end we prepare them daily."

The Road To The State Championship
The Lady Eagles pulled out a nail biter last Thursday night 34-33 against Spartanburg Day to secure their spot in the SCISA Class AA State Championship.

In the final 45 seconds of the game, Spartanburg Day senior Ashley Devore went to the free-throw line with her team leading 33-32. Devore missed the one-and-one.

PCA senior Corey Caulder got the rebound and found senior Micah Christman at the other end for the game-winning score.

Caulder finished with 26 points and eight rebounds, Micah Christman scored four points, and Annie Pascutti added nine rebounds for the Lady Eagles.

Go Eagles!!!
Thanks to all of our amazing Eagles Fans who came out to support our Varsity Girls in the tournament!
The team appreciated the enthusiastic crowd and the show of school spirit.
Athletic Director Dale Hoover says, "I want to thank the PCA families and students for their support of our basketball teams in the playoffs this season.  Many made four trips to Sumter within 8 days and we had 53 take advantage of a team bus to the Semi-final and State Championship games to cheer on the girls.  It was awesome to see so many of our fans there!"
