Final bridge beam setting at 106th Street tonight, Oct. 9
|
Tonight, Oct. 9, crews plan to set the final overhead bridge beams for the new US 31 interchange at 106th Street. Various lane restrictions should be expected in this area between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. The new interchanges at 106th and 116th streets will be the final interchanges constructed on the new US 31 Hamilton County freeway and are anticipated to be open to traffic before the end of this year.
Crews are also making progress on new ramp configurations at the I-465 interchange. While some construction in this area is expected to continue into 2016, work is on schedule to meet the goal of having all ramps and interchanges open, and free-flowing freeway traffic on US 31 north of I-465 by the end of this year.

All lanes open to traffic in Westfield by late October
|
Before the end of October, all lanes of US 31 in Westfield are anticipated to be open to traffic. Once these lanes open, northbound and southbound US 31 in Westfield will be in the final configuration and fully open between SR 38 and 146th Street. All interchanges in Westfield, including SR 32 and 191st Street, are now open.
The speed limit on US 31 in this area will remain 40 mph as crews complete final work on the contract. INDOT and law enforcement are working together to determine the safest time to adjust the speed limit to the final 55 mph zone. The public will be notified via e-newsletter when this speed limit changes.
