Reminder: 156th Street closes west of US 31 tomorrow, May 24
For the safety of motorists, 156th Street will close west of US 31 beginning tomorrow, May 24, at 6 a.m. through late summer. As construction of the southbound overpass at 156th Street continues, it will be increasingly difficult for motorists to maintain a safe line of sight due to the overpass wall on the north side of 156th Street. INDOT and contractors determined that closing access to/from US 31 at 156th Street on the west side of the road is the best option in regard to safety concerns.

Access to private driveways, neighborhoods and businesses will remain open on 156th Street during this closure. Through traffic on 156th Street will be restored after US 31 traffic is shifted to the newly-constructed southbound lanes in late summer. Motorists are advised to seek an alternate route during the closure.
