DOT Required Documentation
The Department of Transportation requires that waste generators not only apply DOT Closure instructions correctly, but additionally keep on file the specific closure documents that pertain to the packaging material utilized to ship your waste. They must be available on demand during inspection. Are all of yours up to date? Have you started utilizing a new type of container and don't have the required documentation? As your partner in compliance management, Ingenium is here to help. We have all the required documents, and can provide them to you via email or hard copy. Just give your representative a call, let them know what you need, and they'll take care of it! |

Landfill Wars
This year California Gov. Jerry Brown signed into law anti-flow control legislation which prevents communities from prohibiting importation of waste into their landfills. Why is this an issue? For the most part, it's all about access to a landfill. Over the last 20 years, 122 landfills have closed in California and none have opened. This has forced municipalities with limited or no access in their area to export waste to other regions. The full story can be found by reading further on the Ingenium blog.
We blog on breaking tops weekly at Ingenium and encourage you to join the sustainability dialogue by sharing your comments with the community in our blog comments section. |

PET Sheet Recycling
Recycling many types of industrial plastics remains a challenge, and often they continue to end up in the landfill. Recently a client became concerned with the tremendous quantity of Polyethylene Terephthalate they had, and challenged us to find a better solution.
Even though the plastic of PET sheeting is viable for recycling, it's not typically acceptable to facilities due to its thin and lightweight texture which gets easily wrapped around the gears and moving parts of the processing equipment. After extensive research, we were able to locate a processing facility with the ability to handle PET in sheeting form. The result is that thousands of pounds of PET sheeting have been saved from going into the landfill, and are in the process of being recycled into usable material.
If you have a question as to whether some of your waste that is currently being sent to landfill can be recycled or reused, call Ingenium today. |
