The Market Street Restaurant and Deli is very proud to be able to have a Hat and Glove Drive for Join Hands Ministries. Co-Owners Tammy Seidel and Jen Lindsey wanted to be able to do something to help give back to their community and they felt that being able to make sure the youth of the county are warm this winter was a great gift to give. Market Street Restaurant and Deli will be collecting new hats and gloves through November 19

SUNDAY,NOVEMBER 4th
The service begins at 1 p.m.
The New Bloomfield Girl Scout Troops will be working with Lynn Van Leaven, from Veteran's Affairs and The Sons of the American Legion Posts #177 & #364 to teach the Scouts to retire flags properly in a dignified ceremony. If you have a flag that needs to be disposed of because it is worn and can not be flown again, please help with this great community service project. Flags are being collected at the Perry County Treasurer's Office, 25 West Main Street, New Bloomfield and the Newport American Post thru November 1st. Please remember to include the name of the person you wish to honor by the retirement of the flag. "Oh, Christmas Tree" POSTER CONTEST
The Perry County Council of the Arts (PCCA) and Newport Revitalization and Preservation Society are sponsoring a Christmas tree poster contest for students in grades K-12 in the Newport School District. Drawings must be completed on an 8 ½" x 11" sheet of paper and delivered to PCCA Gallery, One S. Second St., Newport by November 27. Drawings will be judged and displayed in Newport square businesses from November 30 to December 17. $10 prizes will be awarded in four grade levels.

 Perry County Literacy Council Fundraiser Holiday Hors D'oeuvres Tuesday, December 4 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Lily Manor Route 35, Mifflin (www.lilymanor.com) A demonstration of simple Hors D'oeuvres preparation and display techniques that will allow you more time to spend with your guests at your own holiday gatherings. Cost: $50.00 (includes wine and a sampling of the Hors D'oeuvres) Please reserve early as space is limited to 25 people. Come early and join us from 5-6 for a wine tasting at the area's newest winery, Juniata Valley Winery, right next door to Lily Manor.
