IDEAS
U.S. DOE's Smart Energy Analytics Campaign:
Helping Building Managers Adopt Energy Management & Information Systems

This month, the Department of Energy (DOE) introduced their Smart Energy Analytics Campaign. The campaign will help facility managers advance their use of Energy Management & Information Systems (EMIS's).

EMIS's use analytics and monitor-based commissioning to identify building problems--and solutions that cut energy use and improve comfort. The DOE considers EMIS's to be a cost-effective, but underutilized High Impact Technology.

We have had presentations on EMIS's at our July 2014 and December 2014 BGT meetings; and I wrote about them in the May 12 newsletter.

Campaign participants will have access to resource documents from the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. They're also eligible for technical assistance. Awards will be given for exemplary energy reductions.

To inquire about the Smart Energy Analytics Campaign, contact info@smart-energy-analytics.org.

The Red Sox offer free bike valet parking, located across from Gate D, to ticketed patrons. Sox staff issue bicyclists a claim check and then park their bikes in a fenced-off area.

People that ride Hubway bikes can park at one of four Hubway stations located near the park.

ARTICLES
Physical pool covers keep heat in pools and reduce evaporation. However, they can be expensive, cumbersome and subject to wear.

Liquid pool covers do the same job--they form a microscopic layer of ethanol or alcohol on the water's surface that reduces evaporation and traps heat. These products have been approved by the EPA, FDA and the NCAA.

One of the popular liquid pool cover products, HeatSavr, is sold by EcoGreen Energy Solutions.
