THIS WEEK WE LIFT UP...
THE 231ST DIOCESAN CONVENTION.
Each January our Diocese gathers together as a community for prayer, listening, learning, Diocesan business, and to renew old friendships and make new ones. This year's Convention will be held on Friday and Saturday, January 29-30 at Embassy Suites in Newark. St. David's Episcopal Church is this year's host. Each parish sends two voting lay delegates and may send one youth delegate, who along with all canonical clergy of our Diocese, form the voting delegation. Christ Church's delegates are Maryann Younger and Joe Stoeckle. This year's theme is "Creating a Culture of Generosity" with The Very Rev. Gary Hall as the guest speaker. If you have never participated in Convention, consider joining in this year - it is a unique opportunity to meet your sisters and brothers in the Episcopal Church from all over our state and to take part in our common life and work. For complete details, visit www.dioceseofdelaware.net/231st-convention.

A WORD FROM THE CLERGY
I'm running a race in April along the Potomac River just outside of Washington, D.C. It's approximately 32 miles, and it all happens on trails that weave in and out and up and down. It's just the kind of running that I love because it's away from buildings and people and most importantly, concrete. For a city-dweller such as myself, I love those moments when I can get away and get out on the trail. There's something primal about running through the woods only hearing your footsteps land firmly on the cold, frozen ground. There's something quite surreal about seeing trees and shrubs and water all move along the conveyor of your periphery. There are moments in that place when I feel like my mind and my body are one. I feel quiet. With no phone. No music. No email. Just my body and the trail and the pain in my feet, of course. Oh, and there's the agony of my lungs when I begin to run up an incline. Read more...
