New X-Wing Hunger Game Events
Four new events added!

X-Wing takes advantage of Thursday, 8/28, adding four separate Hunger Game Events.

Primer Update Coming Soon.

New events included in All-Event Passes or purchased separately.

New Warmachine/Hordes events
Iron Gauntlet, Scrambles

We've made a few additions to the Warmachine schedule in order to bring you more options and to shake up the meta a bit. Don't worry, none of the other events have been changed, we're just looking to expand our presence and re-invigorate the Warmachine scene!

As many of you know, Privateer Press recently launched a new format called 'Iron Gauntlet,' which really steps up the level of competitive play and brings the best of the best together from across the nation. The requirements for an Iron Gauntlet qualifier are pretty steep, but definitely within our grasp. To that end, we're going to be running an unofficial Iron Gauntlet event on Saturday in order to get ourselves the nod from Privateer to run an official event in the coming years. Get painting!

Additionally, we looked at our Sunday schedule and decided that the Masters shouldn't be allowed to have all the fun, so we're going to be running some 35-point 8-man Scrambles. First come, first serve! You'll have the opportunity to win some prizes throughout the tournament, so muster whatever energy you have left and get ready for one last fight!

These new events are included in the Warmachine/Hordes "All Event Entry" pass, so sign up today!

Updated Primer with New Events Coming Soon - Check Website after July 7, 2014.
Caleb Wissenback: painting seminars
Primer-to-tabletop, blending, Nurgle effect, freehand

Painting instructor Caleb Wissenback is back this year offering a number of seminars. Recovering from a recent accident, Caleb hasn't been able to enter in many events recently, but he did pick up a "Best in Show" at Kublacon!  He promises fully healed and ready for the NOVA Open 2014:

"From Primer to Tabletop" will be much the same as last year. Games Workshop is again helping out with this event by providing minis (space marine or high elf sea guard), paint, and brushes. This class is geared toward the beginner to novice painter, and will cover the entire line of GW paints and show how and when to apply the different paints, glazes, washes, and drys. Caleb has fine-tuned this class and will be adding more advanced techniques at the end of the class.

"Intro to blending" will be expanded from last year, as well. Not only will students go over the previous techniques for blending - such as wet blends, 2 brush, French, and feathering - but the seminar will add in Ben Comet's new technique of wet on wet. Students will also check out a new product that will really help with blending. Miniatures supplied by CoolMiniOrNot.

"Nurgle Effect" is based on Todd Swanson's technique for painting his golden daemon winning Nurgle Lord. Caleb really enjoys teaching this class because it breaks down the chipping and weathering techniques and shows how simple it really is to produce great results. This class is also a hands-on class, so bring your brushes. Seminar is geared for the novice to intermediate painter. Caleb hopes to have a Forge World Mark3 mini to work on.

"Freehand Secrets" is a mix of different styles and techniques borrowed from painters like Jen Hailey, Brice Cocanour, and others Caleb has had the pleasure of learning from . . . he even took a freehand class with Mathieu Fontain! In this seminar, you will get to paint a limited edition Sasha mini from Lester Bursley Miniatures, which may not even be for sale yet!  The cla
ss is geared for the novice to experienced painter due to the time constraints, but even beginners can learn a lot. Bring your brushes for this one. The Lester Bursley Miniatures are provided by War Games Consortium (WGC) with whom Caleb is working to develop a new painting competition circuit called the Draconic Awards.

Caleb will be speaking on how to raise paint scores in the Foundation Lounge on Friday afternoon; check Schedule for times. Learn from one of the best by registering for these seminars today.
Seminar: Inside Malifaux 2nd Edition
Justin Gibbs tells all!

Justin Gibbs is the lead designer for Malifaux Second Edition. Sign up for his seminar, Inside Malifaux, and learn about the creation of the Second Edition, his world-wide experience managing beta tests, and his direct approach to involvement with the Malifaux community.  You may also learn how he has spent the last year at Wyrd since Malifaux "Next" is due out prior to the NOVA Open! Justin, who has been with Wyrd since 2012, also worked on Evil Baby Ophanage, Showdown: Icons and Puppet Wars Unstitched.  Perhaps during the Q&A session at the end of the seminar, you can learn more about those - but don't ask about production and shipping issues at Wyrd . . . that is not in his wheelhouse!

You can also meet Justin in the Foundation Lounge Saturday night.  Check the Schedule and Register for his Seminar today.

Silent Auction at NOVA Open

Last year at the NOVA Open, the NOCF ran a Silent Auction with donated artist prints from Corvus Belli, Florian Stitz and other print artists willing to donate their prints and originals in support of The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. This year, the Silent Auction will expand to include models and units donated through Eric Fontaine's NOCF Facebook page.  A Silent Auction page is under construction; check website for updates.

Late War Army becomes NOVA Open Charitable Foundation's first Flames of War Charity Army!
3000+ points supporting Wounded Warrior Project

This massive bundle could easily make multiple different Armies, and at rough glance depending on which book you use to field, is easily over 3000 points of options.  Boxes off the shelf would easily run over $500, and that is without the 2 months of dedication artist Steve McCuen (CGR Painters West) put into its creation.  Need not be present to win this Late War army. Rickets will go on sale as soon as the army arrives on site - and it is expected any moment!

Late War army list:
  • 10x Panthers
  • 1x Bergepanther recovery vehicle
  • (Capable of being an HQ and two platoons, or just 2 platoons)
  • 10x Panzer IV
  • (Capable of being an HQ and two platoons, or just 2 platoons)
  • PanzerGrenadier HQ PLT with 3x Halftracks, with panzerschreck options
  • 2x Platoons of PanzerGrenadiers with 4x halftracks (1 of which is has the 3cm antitank option) each in addition to panzerschreck options
  • 2x 2cm AA
  • 3x nebelwerfer rocket battery with support vehicles and spotter
  • 2x Sd.Kfz. 251/9 - Schützenpanzerwagen (7.5 cm KwK37)
  • 2x Sd.Kfz. 251/2 - Schützenpanzerwagen (Granatwerfer). 81 mm Mortar carrier.
  • 4x Jagdpanzer IV Tank Hunters

Rumor is a 1500 point Mid War army will be in the Silent Auction at NOVA Open; it's a good idea toregister for FOW events this year, but having a chance to win this army is a good reason, too. Both support Wounded Warrior Project
